Tethering (iPhone OS 3.0)
Re: Tethering broken in iPhone OS 3.1
Ack. The iPhone OS 3.1 breaks the tethering with this file. Seems you have to have an actual digitally signed carrier file to enable tethering now. What are the odds of Exetel getting one of these?
Re: Tethering broken in iPhone OS 3.1
not sure but perhaps login to your members section and post this in the suggestion box, Optus restrictions shouldn't carry over to resold services and something should be done to accommodate those that need thismycle wrote:Ack. Re: Tethering (iPhone OS 3.0)
has there been any news on this tethering issue under phone 3.1, apparently only approved carriers with signed carrier profile files enable tethering...
is this something extel should discuss with optus or do we need to goto to optus??

Re: Tethering (iPhone OS 3.0)
Haven't heard anything yet. Just submitted it through the suggestion box in the member facilities. It should be possible as Virgin (an Optus reseller) have it working on 3.1.

Re: Tethering (iPhone OS 3.0)
It would certainly be possible, just a matter of Optus coming to the party and doing it, they own Virgin anyway so obvious why they can accommodate them without an issuemycle wrote:Haven't heard anything yet. Re: Tethering (iPhone OS 3.0)
I installed this file, and have iPhone os3.0 working on exetel.
I thought at worst it would over-ride the Optus APN, but I could not get data with my '3' SIM.
Changed it back using unlockit.co.nz.

Re: anyone have success with 3.1.3 with tethering
note that what it says is that it allows tethering profiles for SIM cards which don't have an Apple assigned profile, Exetel HSPA uses an Optus SIM which has a profile associated already so this still wouldn't helpTastech wrote:hi

Re: Tethering (iPhone OS 3.0)
Hi, I am wondering if anybody has asked Exetel and Optus to enable tethering on the HSPA Exetel SIM

Re: Tethering (iPhone OS 3.0)
Of course we have, but Optus Wholesale don't allow it.jtdt wrote:Hi, I am wondering if anybody has asked Exetel and Optus to enable tethering on the HSPA Exetel SIM

Re: Tethering (iPhone OS 3.0)
I think it falls into the too hard basket, they have enabled tethering for another reseller (on a case by case basis) but the other reseller uses the default APN that Optus use so it's just an account setting, as Exetel uses a different APN it would require a signed carrier profile, how they could manage this is the problemJames wrote:Of course we have, but Optus Wholesale don't allow it.jtdt wrote:Hi, I am wondering if anybody has asked Exetel and Optus to enable tethering on the HSPA Exetel SIM
