Yep the PC exeSMS program, and using the member services site directly, both work fine (as did the old exeSMS app for Nokia).
I haven't got the handset on me at the moment, but I'll check the firmware tonight, and/or reinstall the app and get back to you.

I posted this suggestion elsewhere but got no reply so will try here.

I find that MOIP doesn't work well for mobiles as it is too dependent upon being in an area with good (uncontested) 3g coverage, from reading through the forums this seems to be a problem for users on other mobile platforms as well, especially in areas with poor 3g coverage.

I have had great success with the VOIP callback service from another VSP (mnf) and while the call quality has been great using the webcallback, it is a rather clunky process at the moment as I currently dial the call back service, wait for the service to return my call then manually enter the number I wish to connect to.

I would like to get (or create) an app that allows me to select a contact from my phone and using an API initiate a call between my mobile and the selected contact. Ideally for me (being an android user) it would be integrated into the intellisms app that I use to send sms via the exetel sms web service.

I was wondering if Exetel did allow access to their call connect service through an api making such an application possible.

there are some 3rd party apps available for Android phones, maybe still a bit of a small market segment which would make it hard to cover the development costs for just Exetel usage

These guys have one: http://www.voip.com/mobile_java.aspx.

I believe Skype has one, in the form of Skype-lite.
Yeigo-lite - http://voip.about.com/od/voipsoftware/p/Yeigo.htm.
Nimbuzz - http://www.nimbuzz.com/en

There are lots that show up on searching, but they all seem to be services that you pay someone else for. I was thinking it would be nice to use exetel, since I am a VoIP customer already.

Also, I believe some PC-based softphones run on Java.

Android:

VOIP: CSipSimple, has G.729 but you need to purchase the G.729 license your self to use it legally since it is patent encumbered
SMS: SMSdroid + WebSMS + WebSMS Exetel Connector

Any news on MOIP for Windows Phone (doesn't need to be Win Phone 7 - I'd be happy to have something for Windows Mobile 6.x)?

If you could let me know if it's going to happen at all that would be great

I know some people that write VoIP software for mobiles and the feedback has always been that the Windows platform is the most difficult to accommodate, not sure we'll see anything anytime soon
