HSDPA Outage in Melbourne??
HSDPA Outage in Melbourne??
Hi,
I'm currently in Melbourne on business, am 24 floors up looking directly at Rialto, the Optus building, and any other mobile site in the city that you would care to note, and am getting absolutely appaling speeds with my wireless modem. It worked fine for the first day (Tuesday) but we've had nothing but trouble with it ever since.
It connects ok, it appears to be working, I can ping sites but get extraordinarily slow ping times when pinging or doing a tracert.
Modem is running the latest firmware, when I tether to the iPhone to use the data on that from the laptop it's working fine, just appears to be with the Exetel service. I can bring up the Ninemsn, google, and exetel home pages but that's about it. Whenever I click away from those pages or to any links on those pages it just times out.
Urgently need a solution to this, I have meetings today and tomorrow and need this one working.
Any advice on outages you are aware of would be appreciated.

PM sent, thanks for the quick reply.
Funnily enough I am down here visiting several clients in Melbourne trying to, among many other things, move their ADSL and wireless services over to Exetel.......

Re: HSDPA Outage in Melbourne??
I have also been having problems since Tuesday.
I could not get email from 2 of Our Exetel addresses from 2 different machines, I did speak to someone on the phone and they
suggested that Our settings were not correct, These have not changed. I reset to another IP number this morning and this corrected the email but cannot access a lot of web sites including logging into Exetel user services.
Is there a problem with the Optus tower blocking some sites..??
I live in the Country where contention issues have never a problem.

Re: HSDPA Outage in Melbourne??
I've had probelms with my connection here since yesterday too.
Some pages won't load, others will begin to load and take forever to finish, others will work just fine.
Yesterday I could access the Exetel main webpage but not these forums. Changing my IP address fixed up this problem, but there are some webpages I still cannot load. Below I have added a tracert of one site that begins to load, but never displays.
