UNI-V voice service
Will Exetel provide a voice service over the UNI-V port on NBN Co plans?
While I could buy a separate ATA, it would be nice to use the provided port on the NTD...
Thanks.

We are doing NBN voice project concept testing using our existing infrastructure.
We cannot confirm an ETA until the testing is completed.

Cool. I'm happy Exetel is considering and testing it.

Re: UNI-V voice service
I'm just curious. For those of us already on the NBN would Exetel be then offering two different services for phone calls ...VOIP or NBN voice?

As I indicated in my Previous post;Surfn Chick wrote:I'm just curious. For those of us already on the NBN would Exetel be then offering two different services for phone calls ...VOIP or NBN voice?
At this stage, we can offer TC-4 “best effort” Data and Exetel VoIP service over the direct NBN service via the TC-1 out of the UNI-D port.thejeg wrote:We are doing NBN voice project concept testing using our existing infrastructure.

Ultimately and best - we should deliver voice via BOTH the UNI-D and UNI-V, and in both instances, use the TC-1 channel for voice.
Re: UNI-V voice service
Any chance of an update on this?
Even a guestimate of when NBN voice might be available or how the concept trials are progressing would be helpful. Thanks.

Re: UNI-V voice service
Hi Nick, It's still under testing and as such we cannot confirm of an ETA as yet.Nick S wrote:Any chance of an update on this?
We will be indicating the status in our news letter when everything is ready to go....

Hi Tj
Please provide an update of the testing of UNI-V port on the NBN.
Do you see this becoming available within the next 2, 6 or even 12 months?

We definitely want to release a UNI-V based voice service! and most probably the released date will be announced.Surfn Chick wrote:Hi Tj

Once we come up with a working service, we can advice you on the pricing and other important details pertaining to this product.

Any update on this? Just about to move to an NBN grenefields estate

Re: UNI-V voice service
It's a priority of th ebusiness, but why not just use VoIP?trev wrote:Any update on this? Just about to move to an NBN grenefields estate
Re: UNI-V voice service
1. The UNI-V has been pre-wired by the builder everywhere in the house a phone is thought to be needed. The UNI-D hasn't.James wrote:It's a priority of the business, but why not just use VoIP?trev wrote:Any update on this? Just about to move to an NBN greenfields estate
2. The NTD, when installed, already includes an ATA, so the existing base station and four wireless handsets can be reused.
3. The UNI-V port has higher priority and is separate from the UNI-D port and therefore not affected by the net usage (though the latter is probably less important given the available bandwidth on any but the 12/1 plan).
