Routes to Singapore
Hi,
Are there currently any issues with the routes to Singapore as I've been experiencing higher ping times and very slow connectivity to servers located in Singapore when using an NBN VDSL connection lately?
Over the past few days my FTP downloads are currently transferring at 0.3Mbps whereas I'd been typically getting around 30Mbps from the same server.
When I do a speed test via speeedtest.net to Australian servers I'm getting 75Mbps down and 40Mbps up, but when testing against any of the Singapore servers I'm getting about 0.3Mbps down (if it completes at all) and 4Mbps up.
I've reset my router and purged my DNS cache, but still get the same result.

Hi,
The windows workstations on the LAN get their DNS queries processed by the DNS server service on our Windows server.
The DNS server is configured to forward requests to these dns server in order, and if all forwarder are unavailable to use root hints.
220.233.0.1 (ns1.exetel.com.au)
220.233.0.2 (ns2.exetel.com.au)
8.8.8.8 (Google)
8.8.4.4 (Google)
139.130.4.4 (Telstra)
61.88.88.88 (Optus)
Just checked the router an it's currently being assigned the DNS servers 220.233.0.3 and 220.233.0.4 so I added the routers IP address as the first DNS forwarder and added 220.233.0.3 and 220.233.0.4 as the 2nd and 3rd forwarders.
I restart the DNS server, cleared it's cache and cleared the DNS cache on the workstation, but I still getting the same result in a speed test.

Do you have any trace weapons better than Windows? The hops Optus->Singapore are asymmetric.

DNS servers 220.233.0.3 and 220.233.0.4 are correct. Currently we have no similar issues reported in related to this.Les wrote:Dazzled,

Hi,
The issue appears top have resolved itself as the download speeds yesterday (Monday) were back to normal.
I would still be interested to know what the issue was as it still appeared to be a link issue to me.
