FEC errors, should I be concerned?

Post by Franpa » Thu Nov 16, 2017 11:58 pm

Period: 35 hours and 3 minutes
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 4741 // 18132

Is this acceptable or something that I should be concerned about?

Has your connection degraded noticably? If not, don't worry about it. It's just your modem doing it's job correcting errors as they arrive.

I haven't noticed an issue other than those numbers increasing, the numbers are rising pretty rapidly. My dad said he'll look at the internal ethernet/copper wiring in the house (how its laid out) and check out how the wall plates are terminated etc. at some point in the future.

I also got an email from Exetel regarding my plan speed not necessarily being appropriate for my connection to the Node. I'm choosing to ignore this notice because we're averaging between 30 Mb/s and 44Mb/s and when the infrastructure isn't congested we're easily sustaining 44Mb/s (Steam, Origin, Guild Wars 2, Youtube, Windows Task Manager, speedtest.net etc. report we can hit 5MB/s). Our upload speed seems to be a fairly consistent 15 Mb/s regardless of time of day.
