Streaming Issues with SBS On Demand

Post by Les » Fri Sep 04, 2020 8:44 pm

Over the past week or so the streaming quality for SBS OnDemand has been very bad with frequent pauses.

I'm having issues regardless which device (Apple TV, Fetch, LG TV, Windows PC) I use to stream.

I've never experienced any issues until the past week or so and I often watch content on SBS OnDemand.

I'm currently experiencing issues primarily when streaming on SBS On Demand.

Kayo occasionally has issues loading the menu but seems to stream okay once you get into the stream. Amazon seemed to stream okay when using it the other night.

I'm assuming there might have been a change with how is being routed from the content distribution network used by SBS to Exetel or there is congestion on the route.

On a separate note in case it's important when I got my SamKnows report for August it reported a huge difference in Min and Avg speeds compared to the preceding months.

August Report

Min 2.5 Mbps
Max 93.4 Mbps
Avg 50.8 Mbps

July Report

Min 51.2 Mbps
Max 93.4 Mbps
Avg 92.6 Mbps

June Report

Min 72.6 Mbps
Max 93.4 Mbps
Avg 92.4 Mbps

The DSL Sync Speeds reported by the modem haven't changed.

Current Rate (kbps): Down 103177 Up 40456
Max Rate (kbps): Down 107493 Up 40684
