I would also find it beneficial. 2am - 2pm sounds great. :D

Should be ok. Means on the weekend i'll loose 4hrs as when the kids get up they stop my downloads but whatever makes it best for all is ok by me.

Personally, it would make no difference to me. I mostly use the offpeak for queued downloads. I am rarely on at or after midnight and have not had any problems in the mornings.
But why is it necessary to change?

I think this is a great idea. Much of my web browsing (especially toward the end of a month) is cut short at midday so a 2pm change would be very welcome indeed.

You could use a scheduling application (there are many free ones available online) to download what you want. That's what I do when I want a download to go overnight.

This is pure BS!!!!!!! I don't want to have to get out of bed at 2.00 am to turn on my computer to begin downloading at 2.00 am.!!!!! If Exetel goes ahead and does this, I for one will immediately pay the cancellation fee and go elsewhere. Who wants to have to get up that early. Some of us work and need to sleep. Change the time and lose customers EXETEL!!!! I agree with others make it 10.00 pm to 10.00 am.

Ultimately, it make no HUGE difference for me (as I can schedule downoads), but given a choice, I'd rather see 10pm-10am than 2am-2pm, for the reasons already stated - being awake to kick off any schedulled off-peak downloads, rather than rely on a scheduler.

As long as we still get 12 hours a day, that's what means the most to me: the LAST think I'd want to see implemented is the "differentiated off-peak" idea mentioned where a larger portion of our off-peak download were assigned specific hour bands.

I prefer to leave it as is. 12 to 12 works great for me.

I would be in favour of this.

It's called a scheduler, if you can register to rant on a forum, you should be able to use one of these.

Wow, do people still use that as a euphemism for movie downloads? :)
Just kidding. Possibly...

Good luck finding any other ISP thats even half as good with the bandwidth and usage caps. Hey, you could use Telstra instead eh, a measly 256K connection with a 200Mb cap would only cost you a kidney per month, perhaps a couple of corneas too if you go over the included Mbs and start racking up extra costs.

I am fine with this change.
I have had no problems with VOIP in the mornings so would expect this would not change.
large downloads are usually scheduled so again no problem there.

Slight advantage is that I usually go to bed at around 2am so all surfing before then may be quicker.

until I read this threat I was not aware of the 12am spike. I will move my schedules down a bit to help with that.

One caution, as someone above pointed out, this thread reflects the views of the more active and connected members, many users will not even notice this change and may get hit. but I trust Exetel will be aware of this and be more understanding of these users when they call in to complain.

So overall 2am-2pm change gets my vote.

Hi,

I am NOT in favour of this change. Having a late start off peak time (2AM) works but having a late finish off peak time (2PM) is not good.
During off peak, the browing speed is very low and you can't do any work at all.

my suggestion:
Off peak 2AM-10AM
or
2AM-12PM
or
12AM-12PM (i.e dont change at all)

Im new to downloading, is it possible to set the downloads to start at 2am? If not I would prefer to keep the 12am-12pm Off peak Period
