I know that passions are running hot on this thread, but Admins have now been forced to intervene several times and delete or edit inappropriate posts.

This would suit me a bit better so I'm in favour.

Having said that, everything is good as is so wont be churning if things stay the same.

Cheers,

It's fine for me. It won't affect me much, since I normally queue my download at night. As long as the offpeak period stays the same (12 hrs), i'm fine with it... :D

I am in favor.

This would give me an extra 2 hours of off-peak incidental download on the weekends.

This would not affect my usage. If it can help the business then go for it

I already start my queued downloads at 2am as requested by Exetel some months back. No issues here.

I think off peak D/L start from 2.00 Am is too late for some people will not stay up that late.
The best time is from 12.00 Mid night to 12 Mid day as usual .

mona, you don't have to stay up late. See http://forum.exetel.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=31664

Personally I think the off peak download time should be reduced, moving it to 2pm is not what I would call a wise decision. Off peak IMO would be fine from say 1am till 8am even 12am-8am.

Matty5700:

Sorri but that is a stupid idea.

The reason why exetel is attractive to many people is cos
-large download quota
-long offpeak period so we can use that quota.
-early off peak start 12am compared to others tpg 2am etc.

If you reduce the offpeak hours, there is no point in having large download quota, cos that means we won't be able
use utilise it as much.

Leave things as they are.
If you change it, I am sure a portion of members would consider leaving.
And it would detract new members from signing.
Since these are the things that makes exetel different.
==
Also by moving it to 2am,
it means things would take us considerably longer to finish downloading cos they started later.
So if something takes 8 hours to finish, and I started at 12am, I would be finished by 8am.
If it starts at 2am, I would be finish at 10am, when I am awake and surfing the web.
Thus the downloading will impact my surfing speed cos it has not yet finished till 10am.

Also why should I keep my computer idling for 2 hours doing nothing presuming I go to bed at 12am cos of work or study.
This kinds of defeats extel's environmental scheme.

Also another problem is this would be useless to people who need to go to work or study in the morning.
Cos most people who do would have time to use offpeak when they are at home at 12am.
The extra 2 hours between 12-2pm would be useless to such people cos they are not at home.

I know people say so use a download schedule.
But we don't always need to schedule or want to schedule some downloads.
Also not everything can be schedule nor all programs support schedules.
Some sites can't support schedules.

Please exetel leave things as they are.
Unless you want a portion of your members leaving.
This idea is about as good as the idea to filter the internet.

No need to throw insults and be rude, I am allowed to put forward my opinion just as you are. You have the right to disagree, being rude is not called for no matter how strongly you feel about an issue.
