New ADSL Plans For July 1st 2009
A great deal has changed over the five and a half years that Exetel has been offering ADSL services to residential end users. Throughout that time we have remained true to our 'founding principle' of providing the lowest cost broad band services at the highest levels of reliability and with the highest included downloads.
From March 2004 onwards we have offered a 'free' download period and quantity that has been changed over time and for the past three years has gradually been increased both in the amount of downloads (now 60 gb) and the time available to download (12 hours a day/7 days a week).
With the inclusion of a fixed IP, free VoIP (with free DID), free SMS and free FAX services as well as 20 free email addresses and 200 mb of free web space we have reached, at least for the foreseeable future, the limit of what we can offer and still remain in business.
While we have no intention of withdrawing any of the current plans we need to both take advantage of the cost savings now available to us (lower IP pricing from July 1st, a 'surprising' shift of peak usage from the 'traditional period') to offer plans that may appeal to a different demographic.
It is early days in making any decision but we considering plans along the lines of:
1) A 'free download' period of 3 am to 11 am or no free download period at all
2) No value adds (No Free VoiP, DID, SMS, FAX)
3) Lower monthly plan costs
4) $1.00 per gb excess usage
5) No contract
Monthly plan charges along the lines of:
ADSL1
256/64 - $30.00 per month for 6 gb peak
512/128 - $35.00 per month for 6 gb peak
1500/256 - $45.00 per month for 12 gb peak
ADSL2 + Telephone line rental for $25.00
$25.00 for 6 gb peak
$30.00 for 12 gb peak
$40.00 for 24 gb peak
Naked ADSL2
$45.00 for 6 gb peak
$50.00 for 12 gb peak
$60.00 for 24 gb peak

Re: New ADSL Plans For July 1st 2009
Good to see the 256 plan making its way back into the plans
I'll have to let a few people I know about these plans...

Any change(s) to the ADSL1 8192/384 plans?

Still thinking about that.PM wrote:Any change(s) to the ADSL1 8192/384 plans?
Re: New ADSL Plans For July 1st 2009
Personally, there are a few perks in the current plans that I could do with and many I could do without. If it means a lower monthly cost I am all for it.
1) 12 hours of offpeak is never usually required for myself (others in the household do more often though), I would happy drop 25%.
2) Can't do without the VoIP, DID, SMS.. it is has been amazing features to date and I would hesitate to migrate to a plan that did not include them as the benefit of having them outweighs the savings of $10 or $20 per month.
3) Not going to argue with lower monthly costs, always an attractive feature of exetel plans
4) $1.00 per gb excess usage would be incredible, although I think $3.00 per gb is already satisfactory. I couldn't care less at the moment if I went a gb or two over.
ADSL1 8192/386 as cheaper alternative would be good, something around or below the $60 p/m mark would be very tempting.
Cheers.

ADSL2 + Telephone line rental for $15.00
$35.00 for 6 gb peak
$40.00 for 12 gb peak
$50.00 for 24 gb peak

Is the $15 line rental included? ie for 6G plan, $35 is the total price... or total of 35+15 = 50?
Thanks

Re: New ADSL Plans For July 1st 2009
My initial thoughts in blue:
ForumAdmin wrote:1) A 'free download' period of 3 am to 11 am or no free download period at all <- A short, free download period would be beneficial
2) No value adds (No Free VoiP, DID, SMS, FAX) <- Necessary to reduce the price
3) Lower monthly plan costs <- YAY!
4) $1.00 per gb excess usage <- Cool... bring back charging in MB increments?
5) No contract <- Interesting
Monthly plan charges along the lines of:
ADSL1
256/64 - $30.00 per month for 6 gb peak
512/128 - $35.00 per month for 6 gb peak
512/128 - $40.00 per month for 12 gb peak
1500/256 - $40.00 per month for 6 gb peak
1500/256 - $45.00 per month for 12 gb peak
1500/256 - $55.00 per month for 24 gb peak
1500/256 - $65.00 per month for 36 gb peak
8192/384 - $65.00 per month for 6 gb peak
8192/384 - $70.00 per month for 12 gb peak
8192/384 - $80.00 per month for 24 gb peak
8192/384 - $90.00 per month for 36 gb peak
8192/384 - $100.00 per month for 48 gb peak
8192/384 - $110.00 per month for 60 gb peak
ADSL2 + Telephone line rental for $15.00 <- The first things people look at when selecting a broadband plan are its price and quota, and I think that sales might be higher if the $15 'special' didn't apply to these plans and the landline was bumped up by $10 or $15 and the ADSL2+ plan prices decreased by the same amount.
$35.00 for 6 gb peak
$40.00 for 12 gb peak
$50.00 for 24 gb peak
Naked ADSL2
$45.00 for 6 gb peak <- NAK2A has 6gb/60gb for the same price
$50.00 for 12 gb peak
$60.00 for 24 gb peak

Thank you for the suggestions.....I think you're right about the telephone line rental presentation.
Re: New ADSL Plans For July 1st 2009
More good news from Exetel in keeping the cost of BB competitive, well done.
Personally I feel the current plans are market leading value and would rather see extra bandwith to reduce NSW congestion. (Unless this is already in the mill?)
Just my 2c worth?

Re: New ADSL Plans For July 1st 2009
currently and based on what you have said in this thread the savings to go from a pstn line incl plan to a naked plan and get 6G is only $10/month. Personally i would like to see say 12G data on the entry level naked plan. so perhaps the following:
$45.00 for 12 gb peak
$50.00 for 24 gb peak
$60.00 for 36 gb peak
And remove some of the perks but you would have to keep voip and did as this is essential to a naked plan. Maybe shorter off peak to compensate the increased peak downloads.

Re: New ADSL Plans For July 1st 2009
I currently have an ADSL and an ADSL2 PAYG plan - (2 different locations).
Are there any plans to modify PAYG plans as well?
Regards,
Harry.

I'm nearly 100% sure they aren't going to change anyone elses plans... these will just be new plans to replace or adjoin those currently displayed on the exetel page.harryL wrote:I currently have an ADSL and an ADSL2 PAYG plan - (2 different locations).

Not right now - we think they are the best possible value for low usage users.harryL wrote:I currently have an ADSL and an ADSL2 PAYG plan - (2 different locations).

Re: New ADSL Plans For July 1st 2009
Disagree. I'd like to see 6Gb as entry level for ALL plans, in addition to the PAYU for all plans (already offered except for Naked).nihonjin wrote:currently and based on what you have said in this thread the savings to go from a pstn line incl plan to a naked plan and get 6G is only $10/month. Entry level should be exactly that - entry. 12Gb is not entry level for many many users who prefer a "fixed" plan rather than PAYU. Even tho PAYU is often cheaper, but as it is unusual for ISPs it often needs explaining - many users don't know a Gb from a Kb and certainly wouldn't know what they use each month.
