I have looked across the Tasman Sea and I am sure you are all aware of the availability of an "Uncapped Data Allowance - Managed Traffic Speed - Optimised for ADSL2+" internet plan. Also notable was in addition to this was a higher tiered plan option with a relatively large data allowance cap for "Home Businesses, Gamers and Heavy usage" who rely on an uncapped traffic speed.

Can something similar to this able to be offered?

State upfront that traffic is managed on the "uncapped data allowance" plan.

In the same instance, for those who need the speed, offer an unmanaged traffic plan with a very generous data allowance cap at a slightly higher premium.

If any sort of "unlimited off-peak" gets up, just keep it simple, what has been discussed is getting quite complex.

I would have to agree, multiple time bands, etc is just too complicated.

I like the idea of unlimited 3 AM - N AM option for the P2P types provided interactive usage is still protected.

Also NON-P2P 24 hour Unlimited option for VoIP, gamers, ABC iView and other interactive users would be a winner too in my opinion.

Just remove off-peak all together.

Offer a competitive quota for the month, and spread out the user's anniversary (monthly start/finish) to spread the load.

Don't block or remove any protocols, prioritise VOIP and HTTP above the rest, and you'll have a winner.

I think a few ISPs will copy the AAPT free download period as it's such an appealing thing to offer.

Just noticed 1.5mbps and lower plans are showing up as N/A for offpeak so i assume that means you have gone unlimited on them.
Amazing progress for broadband when others are still going backwards, come so far from 11months ago when people who did a little to much in offpeak got asked to leave, can we come back now?
Either way its great value.

People don't get asked to leave if "they download a little too much in offpeak". Something else would be at play in these circumstances. Either way, you can contact residentialsales@exetel.com.au to enquire

8Mbit unmetered could potentially rack up about 1TB of data in a month.

Firstly, compared to what? If you are comparing to old plans that have not yet been discontinued then surely you mean "I *would* be paying $20 more for less": you are not yet under any obligation to switch if the new plans are not to your liking

Secondly, 8Mbps ADSL1 plans are bad relative value; you can blame Telstra for that. Exetel can't offer low cost services if their carrier costs are high.

So the "No Charge" for Off-Peak in base plans for ADSL2 means UNLIMITED Off peak ?
and ADSL1 (upto 1.5Mbps) has gone totally Unlimited Off-Peak

For Members currently on the TL-A* and TL-B* plans, will the new posted plans by the same name automatically update from 1/11? or do we need to change plans and select the same plan?

I have looked through this thread and other threads on the boards and was unable to glean the answer.

If the plan has the exact same name, I think it is reasonable to assume that the change will be applied automatically.
