Possible New ADSL2 Plans

Post by ForumAdmin » Wed Dec 02, 2009 11:42 am

We are thinking of matching Telstra's new high download plans for ADSL2 users, and possibly ADSL1 users with:

100 gb per month (any time of day) = $100.00 per month

200 gb per month (any time of day) = $140.00 per month

Any comments or suggestions would, as always, be welcomed.

If we did proceed with this we would offer it only in NSW for the first 2 - 3 months.

Monthly access is $20 (derived NF/24BYO Line), 50 GB costs $30 on top (derived NF/23BYO Line - not accounting offpeak = zero value), additional 50GB should be charged at an additional $30 or less per increments otherwise the value per GB receeds for the 100GB plan (not accounting off-peak).

Suggest:
100 gb per month = $80 per month
200 gb per month = $140 per month

Market it as the 'Gamer' and 'Heavy Downloader' suitable plans.

They are good plans for the 'unfair' customers currently on the no charge off-peak as well.

Interesting......

For that sort of pricing I would prefer (If I was still into it) a $50 plan with 50cents per GB

So

10 GB = $50 + $5 = $55
100 GB = $50 + $50 = $100
200 GB = $50 + $100 = $150
300 GB = $50 + $150 = $200

Just an idea.

Or a $40 plan with 60c per GB?

10 GB = $40 + $6 = $46
100 GB = $40 + $60 = $100
200 GB = $40 + $120 = $160
300 GB = $40 + $180 = $220

I don't know... plans with a stated large quota can draw more people in than one where high downloaders need to work out they can download 200GB cheaply. It does get rid of the "using up your quota" excuse when it comes to the end of the month though.

Didn't we just have a couple of weeks saying that we don't want heavy downloaders?

Now I am confused again.

Unless ADSL2 becomes available to everyone I have no real interest in it.
The views I present are that of my own and NOT of any organisation I may belong to.

If its not eating anyone's lunch why not extend Off Peak 'No Charge' across ADSL1; this includes No Frills plans; Shape the account who reach >60 gb- unless they have a ratio deemed as fair e.g. 50 gb-paid users reset shape to >100 gb.
(Possibly trialing it in NSW first :P

Thank you - we are waiting to see what else transpires in reply to Telstra's changes.

Something to consider if your thinking about getting the 100gb plan.
If you have 2 phone lines in your home, its better value to buy 2 50gb plans then buy the 100gb plan.
The only problem is setting up your routers to load balance.
But im sure some people would consider this.
You could also take advantage of the discount you get for recommending new customers.

Are these plans going to be available to current NSW customers on grand fathered plans before the end of the month? I'm interested in NF/24IncTel as it is 14 more gig for $10 less than the plan I'm on with half price excess downloads.

Cheers

Edit: Will they be available via the Members Facilities?

These plans have been added to member's facilities. You can select now. The change will effect from 01/01/2010.

The calculations for the costs of those plans seem wrong.
All plans more expensive than the NF/22INCTEL plan, are in fact, pointless. They are more expensive than paying for the excess GBs on the NF/22INCTEL plan.

Eg.

NF/23INCTEL: 60GB, $80
NF/22INCTEL: 35GB + 25GB excess = 60GB, $65 + $0.5x25 = $77.5

The differences become much much larger for the more expensive plans...

I am looking at the NF/22INCTEL plan anyway, I just find it ironic that its the most economical 'high range' plan.
