Price Increase Of $5.00 per Month On All Old ADSL Plans
Re: Price Increase Of $5.00 per Month On All Old ADSL Plans
I have had several friends contact me about the "Price Increase" email and I have just checked the current plans and there seems to be a large increase in the costs (not just $5 per month)
For example,
The 8192/384 No frills plan has increased from $60 a month to $90 a month (with more downloads which I do not need)
The 1500/256 No frills plan has increased from $40 a month to $50 a month (with more downloads which I do not need)
At these prices a I can move to Bogpond and get ADSL2 for less money than the 8192/384 No frills plan!
I hope this is a simple mistake that Exetel will quickly amend. If not I will be looking for another ISP and recommending to the many friends that I have referred to Exetel over the years to look elsewhere too.

Don't forget Telstra charge data both ways - for many people now, that means around 1/4 to 1/2 of the quota as they send emails, share files on peer-to-peer networks and upload videos and photos to sites like Youtube and Flickr.seagrass wrote:At these prices a I can move to Bogpond and get ADSL2 for less money than the 8192/384 No frills plan!

I know what you mean - I referred 9 people in one 12-month period (but only had 2 of them to put me as the referrer on their application to get a rebateseagrass wrote:recommending to the many friends that I have referred to Exetel over the years to look elsewhere too.

But in the last 6 months I have talked 6 people out of churning to Exetel as I know they'd get sick of the constant chopping and changing and I'd feel guilty for having sent them.

It is a shame that Exetel continue to drift away from the Pay As You Use 'Decide Your Own Download' ADSL1 plans.seagrass wrote:For example,

The ADSL 'Z' plans in my mind are irrelevant and serve zero purpose, why are they offered? They now serve no alternative to the 'Family Plans'. They should be removed..
Especially now that off-peak with the Family Plans is now TRUE UNLIMITED!
Edit: Suggestion for 'Decide Your Own Downloads'
Z/256 $95.00* 6 Months $30.00 6 GB + $0.50/GB thereafter 8 GB + $0.50/GB thereafter
Z/512 $95.00* 6 Months $35.00 6 GB + $0.50/GB thereafter 8 GB + $0.50/GB thereafter
Z/1500 $95.00* 6 Months $45.00 6 GB + $0.50/GB thereafter 8 GB + $0.50/GB thereafter
Z/8192 $95.00* 6 Months $65.00 6 GB + $0.50/GB thereafter 8 GB + $0.50/GB thereafter
Re: Price Increase Of $5.00 per Month On All Old ADSL Plans
Sadly I think Mr. Linton has made up his mind. I'm guessing, (correct me if I'm wrong) that ForumAdmin is in fact Mr. Linton? He, or that person is no longer contributing to the debacle (sorry!) debate surrounding these plan changes and increases. Exetel are no longer "listening" to their subscribers on this issue.Ravenous wrote:It is a shame that Exetel continue to drift away from the Pay As You Use 'Decide Your Own Download' ADSL1 plans.

PAYU plans with a small amount of included data are out of flavour with Exetel at the mo. I was happy (after careful consideration) to move to the NF8192 6/12GB + $0.50/GB excess. It was quickly removed after "ForumAdmin" did the sums and informed me on an earlier post that with my usage, I would be better off on the NF8192 6/12GB plan. Perhaps that prompted the sudden removal of that plan?
I have little choice but to pay the extra $5/M on my "grandfathered" 8192 12/54 plan for a cost of $73/month, of which I use around 15-20GB per month. I am selling my house, so don't want to go on contract with another provider who can provide ADSL2+ at my exchange.
Sadly, my commitment to Exetel has somewhat diminished! When I eventually move, the choice of ISP won't be as automatic as it would have been the last 3.5 years.

Yes these would be good as there are now no 1500 low download plans for those who also use VoIP or just want the higher speed (nearly 50% of my ADSL1 customers).
I think Forum Admin said the 1500/256 is the sweet spot as far as speed goes. It is now not cost effective and far less affordable for pensioners and other low income earners.

Nor do they need to.PM wrote:Exetel are no longer "listening" to their subscribers on this issue.
"Pricing" issues are never about "what would a customer like the price to be" but "what price must be set in order to meet expenses"

I'll probably be sticking with my old plan too (1500/256 12GB peak download) and paying the extra $5.PM wrote: I have little choice but to pay the extra $5/M on my "grandfathered" 8192 12/54 plan
But here's the funny thing: I was perfectly happy to change to a new plan as they suggested. But then Exetel added $5/month + $10/change for the new plans.
So now because of their own doing I don't need to change plans because it would cost me $10 for.... absolutely nothing! I would still be on the same speed, download and cost.

By changing the ADSL1 plans on 4th they've defeated the whole purpose of the original email they sent me the day before.

(It still says "No Charge" for the FP-C1 in the Member facilities even though it says "No Limit = Unlimited" on the Plans page.... Shouldn't they be the same?)

Yes. I've raised it in http://forum.exetel.com.au/viewtopic.ph ... 53#p270553wurzel wrote:(It still says "No Charge" for the FP-C1 in the Member facilities even though it says "No Limit = Unlimited" on the Plans page.... Shouldn't they be the same?)

Re: Price Increase Of $5.00 per Month On All Old ADSL Plans
Is this the REAL reason that the plans are increasing, and some by $30 per month?

As a long term Exetel customer I am not happy to have my plan increased by $30 per month to fund a court case!
