MoIP + SMS over IP...Finally Released

Post by ForumAdmin » Fri Mar 05, 2010 10:11 am

We will release the MoIP + SMS over IP service on Monday.

The service will either work on an Exetel supplied SIM or on any other vendor's sim that is inserted into either an iPhone or any Nokia phone that has 3G capability.

Prices will be:

Calls to any wireline destination in Australia - 10 cents untimed (no flag fall)

Calls to any mobile number in Australia - 15 cents per minute (no flag fall)

SMS - 5 cents per 160 characters or part thereof

Application needs to be downloaded either from iPhone's appstore or from the Exetel web site.

If buying an Exetel service there will be an option of selecting either the Optus or Vodafone network.

Is this the application selectable in the user facilities, to be emailed out?

I filled out the form a couple of days ago, and again yesterday, but have not yet received the application.

Should I look forward to receiving it on Monday?

I bought this one also, have been using the beta version for a few months now, personally I like the fact that they are Australian developers that have been very responsive to suggestions and feedback, too often competing products come from other countries, nothing wrong with that of course but having a home grown app means that if you are having a problem with a particular service provider they can actually test it themselves and not just try and work it out from debug logs

I've had many versions of vPhone over the past few months and have seen some really major changes along the way, their lead developer is extremely responsive and has gone out of his way to improve the app

Or maybe a link to the application in this thread...im sure most forum users are technically literate enough to use it without reading the official instructions (if they even exist!).

The web page and associated downloads is currently being worked on - with a Monday 'go live' date.

It should work on an iPod Touch on WiFi as well shouldn't it?

I'm not familiar with the actual version that will be released but VoIP apps generally will work on any series 2 or 3 iPod touch with earphones with the built in mic, series 1 touch requires some specific changes and only works with some brands of headsets so a lot of the VoIP apps don't cater for the first generation touch, if you have a later version you should be ok

Sorry to bring up this point...but.....

Number masking with our mobile number would nicely compliment Exetel's MoIP solution.

Alas for Verizon's policy...

Has this been released as of yet? I'm really interested in using the application on my iPhone.

The Moip application for Nokia does not appear on the website yet nor can I see the menu item to purchase. Hopefully it will be up soon.

In the other related thread, it was stated it isn't available yet, I'm sure when it pops up it will be a popular talking point in this and the other thread.

Hi Exetel

Has this happened yet ? I have looked at your site but can not find any info.

Hi,

For information on the MoIP Application, you can view it from our website from;

Residential (Top Menu) -> Wireless Broadband (Drop Down Menu) -> Mobile MoIP Application (Left Menu)
http://www.exetel.com.au/residential-moip-overview.php
OR
Residential (Top Menu) -> Mobile (Top Menu) -> Mobile MoIP Application (Left Menu)
http://www.exetel.com.au/residential-mo ... erview.php

At the moment it cannot be ordered by new customers, it will be made available tomorrow afternoon (Friday, March 19th 2010).

For existing HSPA customers, you must order it from your User Facilities.
It can be found from the left-menu under VoIP -> Exetel MOIP

Cheers Will
