HSDPA connection/authentication error 619

Post by duane » Fri Jan 09, 2009 6:52 pm

I have lodged this with Exetel support but as it's after business hours Friday I assume nothing will happen now until Monday. Hence thought I'd post here in the hope someone can help me.

I received my Wireless Broadband kit this morning and activated it online immediately. Got an activation successful SMS a short time later. On trying to connect I get Error 619 after it attempts authentication. Yes I am using the correct APN and other settings (per Exetel's emailed and printed instructions) and yes I have waited a few hours per a few websites advice for the activation to push through Optus's systems... but still no go. I've also tried it on 3G and GSM but again the same error 619.

I've installed the E169 on 3 computers now (2 laptops and 1 desktop) with the same result.

Has anyone else had this issue and if so have some advice for me?

Yes it was the first thing I tried. Made no difference.

I just logged into my Exetel Member Facilities to find hundreds of sessions with 0 upload, 0 download and durations of 00:00. So it looks like I'm getting to Exetel but not completing the connection. Very much seems like an activation/backend issue.

I activated my HSPA service on a Friday arvo, and it also didn't work that evening, or over the w/e. I decided to wait until "a few hours later", but business hours, and it did indeed work Monday arvo.

Thanks samarium. That's what I expected. Just goes to show I shouldn't have waited and should have lodged a complaint immediately.
