Connection @ East Sale, Victoria

Post by lucky86 » Wed Jul 01, 2009 2:13 pm

Hi,

I will be travelling to East Sale in Victoria for a few months in the next couple of weeks.
The place I'm staying at has no internet connection, so I'm planning to bring my laptop down and get HSPA WI A* offered by Exetel.

I've checked the connectivity using the following website : http://www2.optus.com.au/OWSQ/

It informed me that I'll get OWT Serviceable connection. (See attached)

What does that suppose to mean? Does that mean it will work or not? There is no legend.
Also, I've been with Exetel for a good number of years now, I want a discount on the HSPA connection ! :)

Regards,
Simon

Optus Wireless Telephone - http://smb.optus.com.au/web/ocaportal.p ... llbusiness

The Exetel maps are at http://www.exetel.com.au/files/hspa_maps.pdf -- it's a 900 MHz area, as Optus reported.

Hi,

Yes, 900MHz wireless broadband is currently available in the area.

So does that mean the plan HSPA WI A* and with the Exetel modem provided will work in the area?

I just need a confirmation before I go ahead ordering. I'm pretty sure it's yes.

Regards,
Simon

Optus is sometimes patchy on the RAAF Base, particularly inside buildings. As you move back toward Sale (down Aerodrome Road) the service improves. It is on the 900MHz freq so make sure you have a dual band modem (the Huwei 169 Exetel supplies meets this need).

I haven't been there in 6 months or so, so things may have improved as part of Optus' ongoing upgrade of its network.
