Post by pmmehta22 » Tue Jul 07, 2009 8:56 pm

Hi All,
My wireless internet was working fine till this morning and all of a suddent i lost connection and now i m not able to connect internet using wireless (I havnt made any changes to the setup or property). I have restarted my notebook and wireless modem few times.

I am able to connect to internet using cable though.

I have tried hard coding it to:
IP Address:192.168.1.4
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS Servers: 220.233.0.3 and 220.233.0.4

but no luck, it is still not working.

Any help highly appreciated.
Thanks,

Either the router has stopped broadcasting, or else your computer has stopped receiving the signal. Take your laptop somewhere else and see if it detects a signal (you don't have to make a secure connection) - that could be as easy as walking past your neighbour's house. You may then know which end is playing up.

The next step, if the computer works, is to try to connect without encryption.

One simple thing you can try is to connect via cable, log in to the modem's web interface (http://192.168.1.1) disable the wireless and apply the changes. Then re-enable the wireless. You'd be surprised how often this can get things working again. You can also try (temporarily) disabling any wireless encryption to see if this gets it going again. And finally, you can try a different wireless channel as there may be interference.

I did the same thing you suggest and you know what it worked. I can now access internet wireless. Thanks a lot for your quick and perfect reply.
