improving connection

Post by rat3het » Thu Dec 31, 2009 1:56 pm

I am using a samsung mobile phone as a modem , very slow

was going to buy the e163 modem , but

is the e176 modem faster and worth the additional cost

I think I have the modem numbers correct , did not write them down before posting

There is a E176 modem (I think the model that is generally sold in Australia however is the E1762). It (the E1762) supports the usual Australian broadband frequencies and up to 7.2Mbps HSDPA services.

I can't find any E163 modem. Perhaps you mean the E160E? If so, then the E160E supports the usual Australian broadband frequencues and up to 3.6Mbps. So yes, the E176 family has higher speed potential however current services don't utilise that extra speed yet. So the decision to pay more will be one purely for a future (fairly near though I would think) investment should you deem it worthwhile.

Check out http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-re ... 23524.html for some extra info (and yes, it does get VERY confusing because of all the different bands so feel free to post back here to confirm anything)
