Can't connect to outside Exetel's network

Post by Akdor 1154 » Mon Apr 19, 2010 8:23 am

Hi,

Got an Exetel (Optus) HSPA sim in my Nokia E55 Symbian 3.2 phone, connected by bluetooth and blueman/network-manager to my xubuntu laptop. Haven't tried it for a few weeks, but on the bus this morning I find I can't get outside Exetel's network on it. e.g.

Code: Select all

jarrad@theodore ~> tracepath google.com
 1: 54.15.70.115.static.exetel.com.au (115.70.15.54) 0.304ms pmtu 1500

 2: 66.2.96.58.static.exetel.com.au (58.96.2.66) 134.915ms
 3: 102.2.96.58.static.exetel.com.au (58.96.2.102) 119.919ms

I seem to be getting the correct ppp settings:

Code: Select all

jarrad@theodore ~> ifconfig ppp0
ppp0 Link encap:Point-to-Point Protocol
          inet addr:115.70.15.54 P-t-P:10.6.6.6 Mask:255.255.255.255
UP POINTOPOINT RUNNING NOARP MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:387 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:500 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:3
          RX bytes:322132 (322.1 KB) TX bytes:88529 (88.5 KB)

Code: Select all

jarrad@theodore ~> route
Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface
10.6.6.6 * 255.255.255.255 UH 0 0 0 ppp0
link-local * 255.255.0.0 U 1000 0 0 ppp0
default 10.6.6.6 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 ppp0
But I cannot connect to anything outside of Exetel sites. DNS lookups work fine of course. The most confusing thing is that browsing on the phone itself works fine, however being a user friendly POS it's impossibile afaik to get its current network configurations to see what's going on... ideas?

Needless to say the laptop works fine via wifi to Monash Clayton and my own Exetel ADSL2 service.
