VoIP will not authenticate.

Post by adolph » Sun Feb 03, 2008 11:49 am

Hi,

I have received the email with the VOIP settings for my new ADSL2 Naked connection. I put all the settings in as described and I am getting an auth failure from my modem (Billion 7401 VGP-M).

Looking through the logs this is the error message: SIP Invalid Username/Password for phone XXXXXXXXXX

I have also tried connecting with my mobile phone using Fring and getting the same issue.

So the settings that I am using on my modem are below. From all the reading of documents and the fourms they appear to be correct.

Setting for Phone Port 1
- Registrar Address(or Hostname) 58.96.1.2
- Registrar Port: 5060
- Expire seconds: 3600
- User Domain/Realm: 58.96.1.2
- Outbound Proxy Address: 58.96.1.2
- Outbound Proxy Port: 5060

So at this point in time it looks like a problem with my user name and password, but since I have never had VOIP running on this modem before I am not ruling out a problem with the modem.

Has any one got there Exetel VOIP running with a Billion 7401 VGP-M?

Any help is much appreciated.

Regards,

Adolph

Do you have your settings correct?
Follow these....
http://www.exetel.com.au/voip_pdf/analogue.pdf
as per page 8

• Phone Number: VoIP Telephone Number (028205xxxx)
• Authentication Username: VoIP Telephone Number (028205xxxx)
• Authentication Password: Provided in Setup Email (eg. 1A2B3C4D)
• Confrim Password: Provided in Setup Email (eg. 1A2B3C4D)
• Display Name: VoIP Telephone Number (028205xxxx)

Save config, then sync now

* Hint: You may need to cancel your already created user profile and create another one.

Yes, I believe that I have all the settings correct. I have just triple checked them according to the document provide and all the settings seem to be good.

You will need to log into the User Facilities and get the password reset, looking at the posts above i suspect it to be a password issue.

Please let me know if you need help in resetting the password.

So I have reset the password and tested with the softphone and it appears to work. Will try it with my modem this evening.

Wishing that I had tried that 2 days ago!

Thanks for your help.
