As Dazzled has said, it should work the way you wish with your modem from what I have now read about it.
If not, do you know if your alarm panel is correctly wired with a mode 3 phone connection?
Here is a link to an image as to how it should be wired if correct.

So if the way you want to do it will not work & you can make a proper mode 3 style connection with slight modification to cater for using your modem phone input instead of the analogue connection, this would then allow your alarm system & handset to share the 1 input on your modem.

Do you have your SIP settings in both the VoIP line fields, or only for line 1? ie the service number (3 times!) and password.

Thanks again everyone.

peterh_oz hit the nail on the head. I had only entered the SID data for the Phone line 1 and not for the second phone line. All working perfectly now.

Thanks again - very helpful

So for clarification and future use by others, did it register the same VoIP number for both SIP1 and SIP2?

Does anyone know how to override VoIP when placing an outbound call - so that the call is made on the PSTN rather than via VoIP?

Essentially I want to dial Telstra MessageBank on 101 or 125101

Try ## to switch to PSTN before dialling the number.
