Getting my old PSTN number back

Post by kefa » Fri Oct 16, 2009 4:31 pm

Hi,

I switched over to Naked ADSL a few months back when there wasn't the ability to port your PSTN number to be your VOIP number. Is there anyway I can get my old PSTN number back now?

Thanks,
Keith

No.
Well, yes, the numbers are placed in a holding pool at Telstra for a certain amount of time, before being reissued.
You can ask Telstra to reactivate the number, but this will almost certainly cause the DSL service to stop functioning, and will remain offline whilst the number is then ported, and the DSL is fixed after.

Add to the above, the activation charges and cancellation charges Telstra impose.

On the Optus ADSL2+ network?
I believe it might be more difficult to get the number back, you can try.
