I have noticed there are no Gold Coast voip numbers currently available. Would anyone have any idea if more are likely to be available? Thank you.

Are there any plans to allow porting of numbers in Albury to VoIP?

HI Bangalla,
It's more a question of where our providers have established porting availability. At this stage we have no availability of porting for Albury numbers.
As you can see in the order form, the closest we can get is Wagga Wagga.
Keep checking back though.

Hi all
Just a question from a VOIP ignorant person

I have been on a 1.5m plan with exetel for 4 years and I am just hooking up for a 8m plan (ADSL2 not available here)

On the plan it says I get a free VOIP DID number can any one explain this to me
I am in the Bathurst area
Thanks

VoIP is sending and receiving telephone calls via the internet, instead of the Telstra phone line you use at present. Since VoIP calls to someone else's Telstra number anywhere in Australia cost 10c flat http://www.exetel.com.au/voip_planA.php the savings quickly add up. Big users can buy 100 further discounted calls per month.

You need hardware, known as an ATA, to convert the digital internet packets from your router into a standard analogue phone signal for your existing phone handset to use. You can buy combined modem/router/ATA units as well.

You get a special new phone number, called a DID. These are presently nominally located at Sydney, Wollongong, Penrith, Newcastle, Gosford, Campbelltown, Wagga, but don't worry - you call out from Bathurst on the DID and your friends still use your existing Telstra number. In effect you have 2 phone lines.

If you cease to use the standard phone completely for outward calls, you may even drop down to Homeline Budget. Read http://www.exetel.com.au/residential-voip-overview.php.

You need the phone line to carry the internet, so you can't cancel line rental.

Any idea when more Gold Coast VOIP numbers will become available? Have been keeping my eye on it for the last 4 or 5 days but nothing added yet. So I would like to request :) Thanks in advance!

You may check this through the Member Facilities and pick a number from the list if it is available.

We have ordered new ranges for Tamworth and Hobart and are awaiting their provision.

In the meantime, I have requested the release of some of the numbers currently held in quarantine that aren't so recently cancelled.

Yes, just order a Toowoomba DID from your Exetel members facility.
There are NO Toowoomba numbers when ordering VOIP through the above.

Anyone know how long until available?

I haven't had a phone number (pstn) since switching from ADSL->NBN.
