PSTN Line # Porting to VOIP after Naked ADSL2+ Activation

Post by nico17 » Tue Feb 09, 2010 12:02 pm

Hi,

I recently moved address and moved my Exetel Service with me.

On this occasion, I went for a Naked ADSL2+ Service. One thing I did not consider when I submitted my "moving address" application earlier was porting my NEW PSTN number to VOIP.

Is there a mechanism to port my PSTN number to VOIP after the ADSL2+ service activation?

Mum shared the NEW PSTN number to all of her friends already :-(

Cheers
Erick

I'm a bit confused. At your new house you have Naked ADSL2+ but have a PSTN number also?

If you had a Telstra number, then applied for Naked ADSL2+ but didn't do the PSTN to VoIP application during the Naked application, then there is no way Exetel can get that number back. The number has gone back to Telstra and put into their 'pool.'

If you're really desperate for that number you could try perhaps having Telstra install a new phone line, then ask them really nice that you want a specific number.. the one you had before. Then once that all goes through you could then go and buy an Exetel HSPA service and transfer the PSTN number across using the HSPA's PSTN to VOIP service.

Or you could just not.
