7401vgp - engaged signal

I have set up my router following advice from exetel to do a factory reset.

Now when I ring out I get an engaged tone

Can anyone help?

Hi etheesdad,

Although I don’t have the exact same model Billion as you, your settings look much the same as my 7404VGOX. I’m assuming your ADSL or 3G internet is functional & your VoIP is registered to the SIP Server (check the main status screen & your Phone port 1 should have a green tick, or check the VoIP status page & it should say Registered)

All your other settings look OK, with the exception of the DTMF Method. Yours is set to “Inband”, where as I’m using “RFC2833”. Also your Codec Preference 4 is set for “G726-32”, where mine is set to “Not-used”. The Codec preference shouldn’t cause a busy signal.

From the latest posts on the Forum, the SIP Expire time should be 1800 seconds, but there is also messages stating 3600 seconds as well. At the moment 1800 seconds seems to be working good for me.

Attached is a copy of my settings which I’ve highlighted any differences.

I’d also recommend updating to the latest firmware from Billion’s Australian website (if you haven’t already done so). Remember to do a restart with “Factory Default Settings” selected, then manually re-enter your settings – DO NOT load in a saved settings file.

can you PM your service number ?

have you configured the sip account with proper credentials ?

You'll get an Busy tone if your authentication fail when making a call.
