Moip not Working

Post by granny12 » Wed Aug 17, 2011 2:12 pm

Hi,
My MOIP on my Android has stopped working.
When I open up the account setting it says ...Error while registering - Request Timeout.
Does anyone know how I can fix this please.
Thank you
Regards Granny

if you've got access to a PC the next thing to do would probably be set your account up on a softphone like X-Lite or similar, if you can register fine with a softphone you will know the account is ok and you need to look at the handset, if it's the phone then maybe reinstall the SIP client and setup from scratch, perhaps something has gone amiss

Hi Jokiin,
Don't I need a set of headphones to do that?

you won't need headphones, you just want to check you can register without an error

for Linux there are free softphones as well, any will do for the purpose of testing providing they support SIP (most do), just have a look through the package manager and see which ones are available

Hi,
I tried the sim in my usb wireless modem, and it will not connect where as it was connecting as I use it when I go away.
Could the Sim have died?

If this helps, the simplest SIP client to get working on Ubuntu for testing (or using) VoIP is Ekiga. It's in the repos if not installed by default. You can connect and register simply without needing to decipher jargon, and you can at least call out and hear someone on a computer speaker. You'll need a mike (some laptops have one built in) to talk. I have even embarrassed my family by using a laptop folded around my face as an oversized mobile phone in public.

Config is trivial, attached (select Edit->Accounts). I personally prefer Twinkle for its extra features, but Ekiga/Ubuntu works ok.

hi dazzled,
I don't get that screen I get a different one.
I can't show you because when I tried to attach it I received this message....
Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached.
I am at my wits end with this.

The Ekiga documentation is at http://wiki.ekiga.org/index.php/Managing_VOIP_Accounts. See "Adding a SIP Account". The screenshots there seem similar.

You''ll probably have to port forward your modem to the computer - symmetric NAT - (use USB 5060) to receive calls on the softphone, but installation of the software will give you a tool to check the SIP account. (If Ubuntu times the softphone out after 3 mins, the solution is usually a firewall tweak)

Hi Dazzled,
No joy with that.
I tried to ring out using the csipsimple
when I touch the contact figure it turns into a square with ....Sip uri or autocomplete next to it, Also under the little mobile icon is this ...@null.
Any ideas on this?
It still won't register.
Regards Granny
P.S. I forgot to add that it shows this 747xxxxxxxxxx6855 when it trys to ring
