What type of cordless VoIP phone to use on NBN?

Post by bobaround » Sat Nov 11, 2017 6:43 am

I have been on NBN for 3 months and have used a Uniden DECT 6.0 without any problem until yesterday.

The phone dial tone stopped working.
The phone would ring and caller could hear my voice, but I couldn't hear their voice.

I did a reboot of the ZTE modem and now everything is back to normal again.

My question is:
If I want to buy a new cordless VoIP phone to use with Exetel on my NBN service,
what are the specific phones specifications that will work on the NBN service.

That sounds like an error in the router hardware or software rather than a handset problem. The reboot cleared it. The VoIP call is being transmitted and received as digital internet data packets up to your router. The router has a section that "translates" this into a standard voice analogue phone signal, to suit standard handsets.

I've set up someone with a Siemen Gigaset 510ip.
You can get extra handsets & chargers. They handle up to 4 VoIP services & 1 PSTN service & if you have multiple handsets, you can make/receive several concurrent calls

They have an "Exetel" configuration in a drop down list, which takes the guesswork out of the setup
