SMS via data

Post by felix » Tue Sep 16, 2008 3:20 pm

Hi all,
I think this has been covered before however i did a search and didn't find it.

I have a work mobile with Hel$tra and whilst work cover my calls and data (included for email sync) they won't wear my SMSing. I send between 500-600 SMS in a heavy month.

So my question, is there any Exetel or customer/coder plans to develop an SMS application, using the exetel api for mobiles to send SMS via data? Specifically for symbian os (i use an n95)? I'm a rubbish coder but would gladly pay a reasonable price for an app if someone was to develop one. I've tried using the webpage and on a little screen, it's tricky and requires sign in.

I'd much rather pay $1 for 20SMS than 6.67SMS.

Cheers F

Have a look at http://home.exetel.com.au/mobilesms/, created by Chris Hardinge, chardinge1@exetel.com.au. He is planning to upgrade this application but is currently busy with VCE Studies, hopefully he will get back to it over the school holidays.
The views I present are that of my own and NOT of any organisation I may belong to.

I have knocked together a slightly more sophisticated prototype at http://sms.tellingbone.info, with the aim of encouraging Exetel to provide a mobile-friendly version of their existing "SMS from Web" pages in Members' Facilities.

For further information, see the description at http://forum.exetel.com.au/viewtopic.ph ... 63#p222463

All the best

Mark
