International Rates billed per Min or Sec for mobile?

Post by johnko » Mon Dec 07, 2009 12:05 am

Hi,

Just wondering with Internationl mobile calls, is it charged per minute and billed per second or charged per second and billed per second as it dosent mention anthing thing about it other than "billed per second"

Average rate is like $1 so if it was $1 per second it would be $60 per minute which seems very high, where $1 per minute is understandable.

Thanks

John

"Charged per Second" just means you avoid 'per-minute block charges': so if you did a 3-minute-and-1-second call, for example, the amount charged to your billing statement would accurately reflect a 3 minute call (=$3.02 in place of $4.00-which would be the result if seconds were unfairly rounded 'up' to the nearest minute value )

A 3 second (eg for a misdialed number) call would come out at say 5 cents, instead of $1.00, therefore, Charge-per-second = saves you money on international calls. The same principle applies for Exetel VoIP-to-international as well.

And prices are per-minute, of course. The page does seem to be missing that vital bit of information though. Perhaps it should say (as the VoIP international page does): "All rates are shown as price per minute but are billed per second."

Ok just making sure, didnt want to be charged a fortune,

Thanks for clearing that up, perhaps they should update the page to reflect what it means.
