Well according to Ravenous in this thread viewtopic.php?f=308&t=36041&p=276671&hi ... im#p276671 there is a way to convert a standard sim, found at this link http://www.johnbenson.net/How_to_Conver ... eaver.html
Though I would recommend a stanley knife as a substitute for a meatcleaver :D

True, but that doesn't really answer the question, does it.
The iPad has been available for some time now, and the iPhone 4 launches on 30 July. Both need microsims.

Can Exetel supply microsims to those of their customers who need them?

EDIT: The thread quoted above has a reply by 'shermanf' to the effect that microsims were expected in mid-June, and that a message would be posted when they become available. As yet, I have not been able to find a message about them.
Regards...

Bernard

<BUMP> Any update on this now that the iPhones are actually out and selling?

Apple have announced that the outright RRP buy price for the 16Gb model is $869:
http://www.macworld.com.au/news/apple-c ... ing-13527/
From the press release:
“Pricing & Availability
iPhone 4 will be available for outright purchase for a recommended retail price starting from AUD$859 inc GST through Apple’s online store (http://www.apple.com/au/store), Apple’s retail stores and select Apple Authorised Resellers (http://www.apple.com/au/buy). A new iPhone 3GS 8GB model will be available for outright purchase for just AUD$719 inc GST. iPhone 4 will roll out to many more countries later this year and Apple will announce availability and local pricing for these additional countries at a later date.”
This thread is asking the same question:

Michael.

At this moment there is no fixed date to release Micro SIM cards. But we wish to release Micro SIM cards in near future (No ETA). Please check Exetel web site (www.exetel.com.au) regularly for more updates or the forum.

"near future"

The above message was posted on 30 July 2010. It is now 07 October 2010, so far no news, and the iPhone 4 has been out for the whole of that time. Does anyone from Exetel have anything to tell us?
Regards...

I'm joining the chorus here. I'd like to get one of the new Optus plans but need a micro-sim to do it. Any news?

Try cutting up your SIM. It worked for me using readily available guides and a kitchen knife. I did the measurements in a fairly rough way but got results.
