Porting from Vodafone to Optus - which plan

have had two mobile numbers on vodafone and have received emails from exetel that service is about to fold. Trying to work out what pland to go to. These mobiles have been on per call costs with no monthly min. and been averaging $5.00 -$10 each per month. There is no longer a "$0" per month plus cost per call/sms (only a $5 per month min) so probably better looking at the V9 $10 month per min.
Have reviewed the V9 and cap19 plans and with the credit against ADSL on cap 19, Cap19 and V9 would seem much the same with a min of $10 each per month? Are the "V" plans a capped plan, is there a contract term?

Can the data component of the V9 and Cap19 be turned off all together at the provider end so the end user cant use it via the mobile phone?

Should I be looking at any of the other plans to port to?

Hello ocular. I got these messages also. The V plan is essentially the cap plan with the ADSL discount applied. I think you'll find that you can only port to the V plan if you've yet to begin a port from the now obsolete Vodafone plans. Certainly in my case the V plans were visible but these disappered once my port was complete and the members site references to my old plans were removed. As well as the cap plans you also have the choice of per minutes plans. If you haven't ported already then I think you will have missed the free port offer if you want a per minute plan, however, free port is still available for CAP plans. You'll need to look at your mobile spend; if it's low then Mobile A might suite but if your monthly spend is more, then a CAP plan might be more suitable (if you take into account ADSL discount, you may as well get CAP19 instead of Mobile B for the same price to my mind). If you don't have Exetel ADSL then consider snapping up one of the V plans whilsts they're available.

Further adding to Kudabird's reply V plans do not have a contract and are slightly different to CAP offerings as you get more DATA quota for V plans. If you get a per minute plan you will be charged $20 as activation fee.

Thanks for that. I do have exetel adsl and when I log into members area and go to change plans I have option of either V9 or cap19, what you are saying for me that there is no difference practically between these two plans if I port my old vodafone numbers to the new optus numbers? Can exetel confirm that for my situation there is no difference between these two plans V9 and CAP19?

Also can the data component be turned off from members area or by service provider?

Thanks EromalR, didn't see you post when I last replied. V9 and Cap19 seem to have same data of 200MB, so perhaps the only difference is that the Cap19 has a contract?

No there is no contract for CAP19 plans as well. The only difference and how you benefit out of V9 and CAP19 would be having an ADSL servcie with Exetel. Suppose a customer has only mobile services via Vodafone network and tries to change to an Optus plan, if a choice was only given for CAP19 (V9 is not provided) they will not be able to get the $10 discount on ADSL thus, end up paying $19 a month.

So as I have ADSL choosing either V9 or Cap19 will provide services /costs that are identical. From the members area both options are available and need to make an informed choice.

Like I say above, if a CAP plan works, grab the V plan while you can. The V plans were added after Exetel sent their email in April for porting of Vodaphone plans and as I had already submitted the change for Mobile 1 to Mobile A it was too late for me. By getting a V plan the price is not dependant on your ADSL.
