Porting from Vodafone

Post by hewi12 » Tue Oct 23, 2012 11:50 am

Hi guys.

I received my mobile sim yesterday. I logged into my account and activated the sim at around 6pm. I had a confirmation email to say that it was activated at around 6:20pm. The service to my voda sim was disconnected shortly after, so I put in my new sim and it still has no service as at 11:50 am the day after. I know the time frames that you give for porting are only estimates, but is there anything else I needed to do?

Thanks
Wayne

Hi Wayne,

Try switching your phone off and taking out the SIM card. leave it turned off for about 5 minutes and put the SIM back in re-try.

If it doesn't bring up the service, please PM me your mobile number.

Hi Wayne,

Service activation has already been completed successfully. I have called you on the given PSTN number, but couldn't reach you. Will try again later in the day :) .

In the meantime, if possible could you please try your SIM in a different mobile handset (Optus unlocked). I have a doubt the mobile handset could be network locked.

Hi Shamin,

I think you are correct. I just looked in the iphone settings and it does look like its locked to Vodafone. I will attempt the online unlock with Vodafone when I get home from work, as it needs to be connected to my itunes before I can proceed. I will reply with the results later today.

Thanks
Wayne

In some instances once the device vendor release the network lock handset will be able to pick up the service.

Hello Shamin

Everything is now working fine.

So yes, the problem was that my phone was locked to Voda. Unlocked it online when I got home and my phone picked up the Optus signal straight away.

Thanks for the help.
