900MHz Vs 2100MHz WCDMA

Post by ohagas » Tue Jun 25, 2013 11:31 am

I recently acquired a new JiaYu G4 phone and I believe it only supports 2100MHz WCDMA (as well as GSM).
I've noticed that the 3G signal often drops back to 2G on the train outside Sydney. What I'd like to know is given the lack of 900MHz on the handset, am I going to be significantly limited in where I can use it?
Thanks

Yes I've seen that map. The problem is that it doesn't differentiate between 900 and 2100MHz i.e. the yellow 3G area could be either. So if the phone doesn't support 900MHz is there any way of determining whereabouts within the yellow area where it won't work?
