Reminder Of 12 Midnight To 12 Noon Conditions

Post by ForumAdmin » Tue Jan 01, 2008 12:57 pm

December was the first month that Exetel charged for usage in this period - people who downloaded more than 72 gb in this period were charged $3.00 per gb or part thereof.

From February 1st 2008 downloads in the 12 midnight to 12 noon wil be charged for downloads over 48 gb in that period.

These people need to be especally aware of this changed condition:

Serves them right for thinking that they can leech that much off the internet.

I still dont understand how someone can use that much!

Not as much as if they'd been with Telstra - 309.169 x $150 per gb = $46,375.35 excess use charge!

Now think about that going to the bottom line!

Ouch! I wonder if Exetel will bill this individual for the full amount. But clearly this person was abusing things - 381Gb is not in the spirit of the off-peak period.

Based on December figures, how many people would that affect?

So this appears to be new... are you going to introduce the $10 torrent cache plan function thinghamy to increase this 48gb?

I believe it was first mentioned by ForumAdmin a couple of months ago.

I don't think the P2P cache has sufficiently proved its mettle yet, so there is no movement that I'm aware of on the "P2P plans".

I would love to see this same list to top users next month.

As someone who in the past took advantage of the old system a little bit I think this is good news.

It should improve speeds for everyone slightly and get rid of the people who want to download 100's of gigs for free.

Easy. Que up a few hundred gbs of stuff from news groups. Thats what I did the month before charging after 72GB came in. Got a few hundred GB

sad that it has to come to this, but i totally understand why it has had to with people going so extremely over.

I just upgraded from the $55 1.5mbps to the 65$ 1.5mbps plan in an attempt to stay under the 48gb limit, i always seem to go about 5gb over the off peak limit :( But since i download about a total of 65gb a month hopefully ill be under from now on.

Any chance we might see an option of buying an extra 10-20gb for offpeak at a discounted rate? Personally i would rather pay $10 for an extra 15-20gb off peak instead of an extra 10gb in peak times, and surely it would be best to keep downloaders downloading in off peak times.

Or you'll pay for it this coming February.

Well since i was going about 5-10gb over i figure upgrading to the 24gb plan should help me keep under :)

Still we cant complain about $3p/gb it beats being shaped or god forbid 15cents per mb.

btw i edited my original post while you replied.
