I send engineering drawings by fax fairly often. While the drawings are usually marked "do not scale", with a regular fax machine the drawings are received at close enough to 1:1 scaling that simple measurements can be taken from them. This is very useful for simple parts, or if a part is simply traced and the tracing faxed.
When I have tested email to fax, I find the PDF is scaled to fit the page, in fact scaled rather smaller than the page it seems (perhaps to fit US Letter?).
Is there any way to avoid this?
I rather suspect this is done intentionally to avoid problems with people using odd paper sizes or margins, but I thought I'd ask.
