For the info of others.
I had a very similar issue with my built-in NIC (identical MB).
Issue was resolved by a driver rollback rather than update. I found new drivers had issues. This was discovered when I foolishly updated drivers via Windows update. System now running on stable old! drivers.
(SOLVED) Network fault (local), help required

Thanks Jyrn - are you talking about the nvidia platform (chipset) drivers?Jyrn wrote:For the info of others.

Yep. The NVidia drivers. But I should probably add that I run a 64bit Vista system and there are ongoing issues with drivers (and almost everything else 64bit!) as the 64bit world is only just shaking out its problems. I downdated using the full NVidia forceware download (163.69 version). Works fine now. Big difference between stability of NIC only updates from Microsoft and full forceware updates from NVidia.ashlan wrote:Thanks Jyrn - are you talking about the nvidia platform (chipset) drivers?Jyrn wrote:For the info of others.

We're talking different OS then. Windows 'automated' update has caused me massive headaches on more than one occasion; esp. regarding one 'SATA' raid 1 update it performed, applying a RAID-0 array update to my RAID-1 array! Of course, the array broke. I've sinced turned it off, and i choose what & when i install from windows. Most of my hardware i get new drivers direct from manufacturer.Yep. The NVidia drivers. For the interest of others; I'm running XP Pro sp2, and re-installing current chipset drivers, (then trying previous release) did not work for me:D
I have still not re-enabled onboard network in BIOS to see if it has resolved; the netgear NIC i've put in is doing fine.

When installing Nvidia network drivers, they ask if you want to install the access manager, choose no, as this is an Nvidia firewall and is known to unleash hell upon its users
