Many thanks to all. It seems to be working now. Andrew, did it have to do with "permission" or something on your end - so I don't make the same mistake.

Thanks,

Steven

The server was not configured to handle Index.htm (not the capital I) as an index file. It's rather rare but it seems a bit more then a handful of people using it so I added it to the list.

Good news, then. Thanks for that. :)

I'm having difficuties connecting to my ftp site
I finally managed to get on to the old site and get my old files but I can't connect to the new one.

I requested a new site and was provided with a new user name and password as well as a confirmation email.

I am using the new user name you provided ie: fw_alspage and the new password you generated, with the Host name/address of home.exetel.com.au and the host Type of Unix(standard)

Any help you can give me would be appreciated

You appear to be getting the password wrong. I would suggest following the instructions in this post and giving it another go.

Re: Missing web page

Hi This is the first time I have posted a question on a forum and don't quite know the right way to go about it. I did post my problem on another part of the site but I think it may be the wrong part of the forum. My issue is I can't locate my original webpage that I have had for close on two years. Never a problem - I have read all the exetel forums and understand there is a new server. Does that mean I have lost my site and have to create a new one? Or can I transfer the old one over. Look forward to an answer. :(

Hi Alick

The old server (on which your webspace resided) was supposed to be finally decommissioned yesterday (I believe) after a lengthy changeover period which was advertised to customers. You will need to wait until tomorrow for Andrew/Daniel to advise whether your old webspace can still be retrieved or not.

Hi Gidget
Thanks for such a quick reply - I will wait till tomorrow - I suppose I read most of the communication from exetel but didn't fully realise the ramification of it all untill I received a few emails from people saying they can't access the site. I will pay more attention next time. Regards Alick

Small point:

The e-mail message sent out when a new website is created still refers to the transition about to happen, this may confuse some new users.

Peter.
Please note that, at present, the free website server is in migration mode
and that home.exetel.com.au points to the old server. As such, for the moment,
your upload FTP server and URL will be temporary.home.exetel.com.au.

For more information please see:

The announcements in the above forum explain the situation in greater
detail and will be where updates and new information will be posted.

I knew spreading such notes all over the place will cause me to miss one. Thanks for that. Fixed.

Andrew,

Thanks for all your help in getting my forum & data base back "on the air". Things have been fine until today, when I have a small problem which may not be at your end at all, but I thought I'd check.

[Edit] I had a question about the location of cookies, but I have found that the problem was a small bug in the software that has since been resolved, so I have edited my question - please ignore this, thanks.

This is because you do not have Home.html in your account. Check the case of the letters used. :)
