HSPA access for quick usage Links
HSPA access for quick usage Links
I would like to enable the quick usage link (known as):
https://www.exetel.com.au/members/usage ... E,PASSWORD
For HSPA users, this will enable me to update my Usage Meter Vista Gadget to work for HSPA users, can you make this possible?
Also, it would be nice to get this link working for HSPA users as well:
https://www.exetel.com.au/members/usage ... r,password
If Possible.
To other HSPA users: If you would like my meter to work with your account please provide support by replying to this message.
Thanks
Aaron

Munka, Since Toid supports Windows, a recipe to play with on your Ubuntu box: install the xmlstarlet package from the repos, and get a heap of xml command line tools. To get the data:
substituting your own login details. Extract what you want and pIpe results to the display object of your choice, browser, or even a Zenity popup. Add a timer if desired.
Code: Select all
wget --no-check-certificate https://www.exetel.com.au/members/usagemeter_xml.php?LOGIN_NAME,PASSWORD -O ~/exetelusage.xml
Re: HSPA access for quick usage Links
Excellent thankyou, when there is a faultless port of google android for my winmo mobile (android being the reason I chose this mobile, why else would I buy a windows deviceDazzled wrote:Munka, Since Toid supports Windows, a recipe to play with on your Ubuntu box: install the xmlstarlet package from the repos, and get a heap of xml command line tools. Meanwhile my home net is predominantly ubuntu on a satellite link, no HSDPA signal available.
So my interest here is mobile only, well for the present

Re: HSPA access for quick usage Links
Munka, the script will get all your Exetel meters, including that used by your home network.
Re: HSPA access for quick usage Links
It is my understanding that this link does not work for HSPA accounts, am i incorrect in this?Dazzled wrote:Munka, Since Toid supports Windows, a recipe to play with on your Ubuntu box: install the xmlstarlet package from the repos, and get a heap of xml command line tools. Re: HSPA access for quick usage Links
I would like it to work. Perhaps because there are new plans on the horizon Exetel haven't locked in this capability yet.
Re: HSPA access for quick usage Links
Please add my name to requests for the changes required to allow HSPA users quick access to usage meters etc. This would be very useful indeed...
Re: HSPA access for quick usage Links
The Net Usage Item for Firefox is now (once again) compatible with Exetel HSPA. Not sure if that's what you're looking for, but just in case it is, grab it from http://netusage.iau5.com/
Cheers, Mike.

Re: HSPA access for quick usage Links
I am currently on a HSPA plan with Exetel & using the latest Optus operating system client
to connect my Huawei e220.
http://help.optuszoo.com.au/help/wirele ... ed/usb#220
It has a statistics page. This (I think) is giving a fairly accurate total of my usage.
How does this work & can I rely on it's accuracy ???
By the way "The Toid' & 'Mike', great work on your 2 programmes...both are awesome

Re: HSPA access for quick usage Links
It works by directly monitoring the actual packets entering and leaving your device. There is possibly some difference in measurement due to acknowledgement transmissions of some sort but these should be negligible. More significantly, there might be a difference in the definitions of MB and GB or usage - ISPs use a decimal interpretation (1,000MB = 1 GB) whereas the Optus software might use binary (1,024MB = 1GB)Wok wrote:It has a statistics page. This (I think) is giving a fairly accurate total of my usage.

Re: HSPA access for quick usage Links
Yeh, if this could be orginised it would be a great help, atm my meter is using the main home page of hspa - which only gives you the information like 2gb / 10gb
It doesnt seperate the peak and off peak, it just gives it to you as one whole lump lol..
So yeh +1 for HSPA quick usage links!!
