New ADSL Plans For July 1st 2009

peterh_oz you miss my point. My point is more that the difference between naked entry level and optus line included plan is only $10 and for this $10 you get the benefit of a land line for those few times when you may need it.

In my opinion i think a saving of $10 at the loss of a land line is not sufficient incentive to switch over to naked. Thats why i would like to see more data to give it more incentive to switch over to naked.

i do agree that 12G is not an entry level data at this point in time but over time this will change and has already changed as websites become more data hungry and more and more services are being offered online.

Is that instead of the existing off-peak perk? If so, will existing contracts be allowed to continue with the 12-12 off peak set up? I like it.

And also, I am currently convincing my work mate to go with Exetel. Should I hold off until these changes take effect? Or would price reductions be passed on to existing users?

I've joined with the Naked plan and was impressed with the 'free' additions, such as VOIP etc, definitely a selling point to me.
That said, if i saved elsewhere while something else was removed, i'd be more than happy.
Haven't had Exetel for long yet, but so far it seems to be impressing me.

As a Naked DSL user and a very happy one at that, I think it is essential that the "free" add ons like 100 VOIP calls especially, DID number and the SMS not be removed, charged or diminished. As our only means of landline communications the 100 free VOIP calls help keep our monthly phone bills under control.

I have no problem with reducing off peak time but i suspect that p2p users would be cringing

Naked ADSL2

$45.00 for 6 gb peak <- NAK2A has 6gb/60gb for the same price
$50.00 for 12 gb peak
$60.00 for 24 gb peak

How much off peak downloads as I will be going with the $60 plan when I buy the VOIP adapter

If there is free download period in the middle of it, what happens to the rest of the current 12am - 12pm off peak hours?

Always welcome, but not at the cost of lower reliablility and speed. Would gladly "pay more" for less congestion.
4) $1.00 per gb excess usage
A better idea than #1 for all hours. May cause leechers to think if they "need" that 10G download that is choking everyones access?

Q? Would a 1500/6g @ $40 be possible.. with maybe a higher excess charge to compensate for the lower base price?? Say $6 a gig?

Q? An adsl2 inc phone($15) plan.. $5 month zero d/l + $5 per gig used?

I find the current pricing and quotas to be fine for me and reducing costs further would attract a heap more subscribers. The only problem I have is the times when the bandwidth here in NSW is maxxed out, and to buck the trend I would happily pay extra to get more allocated.
EDIT.. Just read this... "The increase in direct IP bandwidth via Southern Cross (bought through Optus) is on schedule for the end of June." Fingers crossed and patiently waiting...

Exetel's June Newsletter had the following message -

From July 1st Exetel will switch to using the ‘local’ time in all States and Territories in determining the start and end of peak and off peak periods.

This measure principally affects WA since we have the largest time difference. This will mean WA will have a 12AM to 12PM off-peak time (or the later times you offer as options) instead of the 10PM-10AM local time-slot we presently enjoy. Effectively we lose the 10PM to 12AM period and gain 10AM - 12PM.

That 10PM - 12AM period is far more useful! Most users are at work or at school on weekdays during the 10AM - 12PM period so it is mainly useful on weekends. The 10PM - 12AM period allows users to set an evening off-peak download at a reasonable time before going to bed.

If user's convenience is the justification for the change please poll your WA users. I suspect they will agree with me.

I like the speed of 1500/256, but do not have a need for a very high download allowence. I would like to see a plan that is cheaper with a low allowance of only 5gb or so. Is this possible?

What is wrong wiyh the current PAYU1500 @37.50 + usage at $1 per Gb peak and 20c per Gb off peak? And this plan allows 100 VOIP calls + 30 free SMS + 30 free Email to fax calls - extremely good value

I`d like to see the inclusion of (ADSL1) 8mb plans. As stated before lots of users can not get ADSL2 and 1500/256 for many just is not fast enough.

I think these new plans sound great, as i rarely ever take advantage of the bonus voip calls, sms or web space. I also do heavy downloading so this "free period" would be great to just be able to set the scheduler and not have to worry about exceeding the download limit. And the final cherry on the cake; reduced pricing This makes the plans much more attractive to myself and my family, as we always look to cut back on the monthly budget, not to mention the great advantages of cheaper excess data (we always exceed the limit lol). At the moment I can't think of anything to suggest, but keep up the good work exetel i will be reccomending you as much as I can in the future,

I agree - Some cheaper 8192kbps plans would be great!
