Calling Mobile Numbers
Calling Mobile Numbers
I have a problem that has started happening since the 23rd of October with calling mobile numbers. When I call it rings okay at both ends but when the callee picks up the call there is silence. Standard voip to PSTN calls are fine, its just the mobile numbers.
There has been no change to my setup.
Any ideas what the problem is?
Thanks

Re: Calling Mobile Numbers
no idea but the routing and codecs in use can vary for different call types, what codec preferences have you got set currently?
Re: Calling Mobile Numbers
My codecs are as follows
Codec Priority 1 - G711u-Law
Codec Priority 2 - G711a-Law
Codec Priority 3 - G723
Codec Priority 4 - G729
When I call a mobile number i actually hear it ring three times and then it just goes to an engaged signal. On the receiving end the mobile phone continues to ring and when the person answers the call they just hear silence.
I have had VOIP setup with Exetel for 6 months and the problem has only just started and nothing has changed in my setup. It has to be something exetel has changed.

Re: Calling Mobile Numbers
I would guess it may be related to this issue http://forum.exetel.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=34201DazzleMe wrote:I have a NB7 modem with a MVA11A ata on ADSL2+.
Re: Calling Mobile Numbers
Thanks Jokiin,
Seems too much of a coincidence not to be the same problem.

Re: Calling Mobile Numbers
I'm having pretty much the same problem. I can call landlines fine, but calling mobile numbers, it rings a few times then it gives me an engaged tone.
I'm using a minitar mva11a.
How did you resolve the problem? Or did it just resolve its self?

I have the same problem: "When I call a mobile number i actually hear it ring three times and then it just goes to an engaged signal. The problem started when the Exetel VOIP problems occurred in late May/early June 2010.
I have a Minitar MVA11A ATA, connected to a billion modem. I logged a call to the VOIP service email, they responded and requested me to try softphone software, which worked fine, but the ATA does not work with mobiles.
But, as other people have said elsewhere, why was my VOIP working fine for 6 months, and then suddenly I have this problem calling Mobiles? Landline calls are fine.
Any ideas please?

Re: Calling Mobile Numbers
Hi Jokin. Thanks for replying.
Actually the problem is now fixed! I emailed the Exetel Help Desk again, they replied promptly, and they have now made an adjustment on the Exetel end which has fixed the problem (ticket WFF-81447-415). Great news, and good service in the end.
I have asked them to tell me exactly what the change was that they made, just so I have some information in case it happens again. Do you happen to know if they can make adjustments to each individual connection? It seems like it in my case.
My codecs are G711a, G729, G711u, and G723. I know Exetel advise G729, but the G711a has been giving me good quality calls.
What would you suggest?
