Anyway, thank you for reconsidering 8Mb alternative plans. I, and many others, look forward to their release.
They are on the web site now.
Good to see, found them in meembers facility, main website not updated yet.
Any chance of similar low usage 1500 plans?

The new FP-D1 8192 plan looks good, although I don't understand why us long term members currently on grandfathered 8192 plans need to sign-up to a new 12 month contract?
I also don't see the relevence of the FP-D2 18GB plan. The D1 plan is 6GB peak. The D2, 18GB one is $10 extra. With $10 extra data @ 0.50c/GB you could have 26GB on the D1 plan for the cost of the D2 plan @ $75. So an extra 6GB! Maybe the D2 plan should be removed?
Anyway good to see those of us stuck with ADSL1 and being low to moderate downloaders are again being catered for. Lucky I didn't jump ship!.
What is the cost of breaking the 12 month contract? The reason I ask is that I will be selling/buying a new house in the next few months and can't guarantee that I can change connection to a new premises. That depends on timing etc.

You mean 6 months. Plus, does the 6 month contract appear even in your member facilities (after clicking on a plan but before applying for it)?

$100, if a contract is indeed applicable to you at all

Hi Corey,
My original contract expired 29/3/2007. But in the agreement clause it says "I agree to new
12 months contact if I apply to change to plan FP-D1 or FP-D2". That's for current members.

So, before today this was the only 8000 plan on offer by Exetel:
8192kbps Down/384kbps Up
Z/8192 $90.00 50 gbyte(s) 50 gbyte(s) $0.50 per GB
But now you can get 30GB for $75, if you add $15 of excess @ 50c/GB that's another 30GB which means on a $75 plan you could get 60GB peak plus *unlimited* off peak for $90?
Is there something wrong with my maths or have you screwed up again Exetel?
I thought the whole purpose of these changes to 8000 plans was to help make them profitable - please explain how this is so - I was on a $85 30/60 plan, soon to be $90, now I'm on a $75 30/Unlimited plan.
It all makes perfect sense - NOT!

No sign of a 6mth contract, it plainly states that it's a new 12mth contract
It does seem to be applicable to *everyone* as it stands right now...

Hi I'm on the adsl1 1500/256(TL-BA) plan and am thinking of changing to one of the new 8MB plans what fees will I be charged to switch (I'm off contract if that makes any difference)?

$10.00 for the plan change.

Assumption is there that Off-Peak is "free/bonus" and allowance will not be exceeded.
I hope it helps a few to make an informative decision if they are thinking of a change.

I apoogise if this has been asked/answered - but from my reading i couldnt see it (or i just missed it).
Prior to next month, when plan changes were made within the same speed band - there wasn't a "fee" to change plans.
Now with the recent news that all "older" plans would be increased by $5 - if people chose to upgrade to a new plan, its likely they next month things would be $15 more expensive next month.
Take for example.
Current Plan - TL-BA - 1500/256, 12GB peak + Uncharged Off Peak (currently 86GB), $3 excess, $45 / month
Now for the new 1500/256 plans the similar plan is
New Plan - FP-C1 - 1500/256, 12GB peak + Unlimited Off Peak, $0.50c excess, $50 / month
Right now - the only real "benefit" in changing from TL-BA to FP-C1 is for the extra (ab)use of the off peak quota. TL-BA as it stands is quite sufficient for my needs and there's no reason to switch between the plans as from April 1 - both TL-BA/FP-C1 are both $50.
While I have no problems paying the $5 for the plan cost increase, how is the $10 change fee justified when in the past plan changes of this nature have incurrent 0 cost?? There's no external interaction required with telstra for modification of the port parameters. Is the cost to update rows of data $10 when it is totally automated? Or is there some other administrative process that justifies the cost?
Regards
Scott

My apologies, you are completely correct. Up to 1.5Mbps is 6 months, 8Mbps is 12 months. So disregard my previous comments, the 8Mbps plans seem quite distinct from Exetel's older ADSL1 plans

Possibly the writing of the automated code to begin with, and maintaining it

Wouldn't there still have been code to write back when it was free ?

My guess is that the charge has been introduced to discourage quite so many people from switching plan quite so often... for now.

If a plan is worth changing to, the $10 fee is nothing to worry about!
