New account, HSPA sim card in a Nexus One

Post by stacy » Tue Apr 06, 2010 2:37 pm

I logged in to exetel and "activated" it, and received the email 15 minutes later that it was active.
I inserted the sim into my Google Nexus 1,
and am given the option of 4 networks
YES OPTUS
Telstra Mobile
3TELSTRA
vodafone AU

All 4 tell me that "Your sim card does not allow a connection to this network."

What am I supposed to do now?

I also tried adding the exetel1 APN, but that seems irrelevant until the network acknowledges me.

not familiar with your phone but it does sound like your service isn't actually active yet, you might need to open a support ticket with the details so someone can check, once your SIM is online you will need to change the APN to exetel1

was it a new number or a churn? if a churn it can take a while, if it was a churn from another Optus based service there's some manual intervention required and it can take a bit to come online

I opened a ticket - still waiting to hear back.
It's a new number - not ported from another service.

Hopefully they'll straighten this out by tomorrow.

support is open until 9.30pm if you need to call http://www.exetel.com.au/contact.php it may be tomorrow anyway though depending on where the problem lies and what time the supplier is available until, not sure if Optus dealer support (if that's who needs to sort it out) is open past 5pm, not hard to find out though I guess if you want to call

A combination of overnight and a reboot and I'm in business.
Thanks for the help!

was probably more of a waiting game than any actual help provided but good to hear you're online now :)
