if using one of the Optus resold plans you need to use the Optus SMTP server to send

if you were at home on WiFi using an Exetel service that would work

yes can work fine, you may need to set your mail up as ssl though, see how you go once you try it

i had my primary server set up using exetel and the secondary as vodafone, technically if the primary is not available, the phone wll try the secondary but that didnt work for me. i had to turn off the primary when im not home so it can use the secondary to send mail. both setting are on for primary and secondary.

just setting it to use Vodafone with authorisation would probably be simpler, then no need to change it
