Setting up email on iPhone, can send, not recieve
Setting up email on iPhone, can send, not recieve
Just got an iPhone and have managed to set up my exetel email in which I can send but have not been able to work out how to recieve them on my phone (I can recieve on my computer).
Under the 'Incoming Mail Server' on the iPhone I have put:
Host name: pop3.nsw.exemail.com.au
User name: my email address
Password: my password I use to access emails on computer
Once I have entered the above info, the following message appears:
The POP server "pop3.nsw.etc.." is not responding. Check your network connection and that you enerted the corrected information in the "Incoming Mail Server" field".
Any ideas please would be much appreciated.

I dealt with a similar problem yesterday and it turned out that the customer entered the incorrect pop3 server info. Once we entered the correct info into the iphone it started to work almost immediately.MezB wrote: The POP server "pop3.nsw.etc.." is not responding. Delete the pop3 server settings and enter them from scratch

Thanks for the reply. Deleted the lot and re-entered the information, have tried both lower and upper case but still no joy.

Perhaps you are trying with a secured SSL connection. Authentication is a plain text password.
The device defaults to SSL. You should see a popup asking to try without. Press Yes until it works.

have tried the plain text password to no avail. What about the User Name? I've just put my name, should that be something else?

mmm, still doesn't appear to be working. I'll have to have a fiddle about with it, thanks for all your help though, greatly appreciated. Mez.
Re: Setting up email on iPhone, can send, not recieve
I have asked an Exetel support engineer to re-look at this for you to get it working. He will shortly assist you.MezB wrote:mmm, still doesn't appear to be working. I'll have to have a fiddle about with it, thanks for all your help though, greatly appreciated. Mez.

I believe you received a call from an Exetel support engineer who helped you set up the email. Please use your full email address as the username and get back to us, if you have any further problems with it.rukshani wrote:I have asked an Exetel support engineer to re-look at this for you to get it working. Re: Setting up email on iPhone, can send, not recieve
be aware of the limitations surrounding POP3 email on an iPhone, phone downloaded by your computer won't be available for your phone, outgoing sender will need to match your data provider etc
