Hi,
Just noticed ( via BGP looking glass) that Exetel has started peering with another IPv6 upstream provider.
Does this mean that IPv6 to customer is getting closer.

we can provide it for corporate grade customers. But for residential grade customers, we are not yet ready to push IPv6 over PPPoE/PPPoA.

Hi Widgit,
At the moment, we support 6to4 tunnel.
For PPPoE/PPPoA, unfortunately there is no time frame at this stage.

Given that tomorrow is World IPv6 Launch, it would be fitting to ask where Exetel is with IPv6 at the moment. Has an ETA been decided as to when dual-stack capability will be enabled?

Over 18 months ago (time flies) the answers were:

When will Exetel start running Dual Stack and accept IPv6 announcements from Customers?
We have been trialing IPv6 in a very limited, test-bed only, way for the last nine months. All our core routers are capable of running dual stack, and some planned upgrades to LNS router memory will allow then to run dual stack in the next three to six months. However, we have no plan to accept IPv6 in less than 6 months, and probably not in less than 12 months.
More recently:

Is there any update on the timeframe? I'm using a SpeedStream 4200 in bridge mode and a Linux server to do PPPoE, so I had a go at enabling IPv6. I am getting the message dleonard0 was getting a year ago:
Code: Select all
Protocol-Reject for 'IPv6 Control Protovol' (0x8057) received
Could there be Christmas cheer for Exetel's network geek customers? Or another year of IPv4 coal in the stocking?

Last I heard, Exetel were waiting for IPv6 from more of their upstream providers, otherwise IPv6 would give a worse experience to end users than IPv4.
It has been quite some time since anything was said, though.

At the moment we provide 4 to 6 tunnel for residential grade services if they need IPv6. Exetel ticket reference 5955791.

How goes Exetel's IPv6 rollout? Any chance of IPv6 over PPPoE in the next 12 months or so?

Just commenting to add my vote for IPv6, for whatever it's worth.

Can I stick in a "me too" on this IPv6 topic? It would be nice to see it in real life somewhere like home before I end up stuck trying to solve an IPv6 mystery for one of my customers.
