Is Exetel's Ironport Spam Filter still effective?
Is Exetel's Ironport Spam Filter still effective?
Over the last few months, I have noticed an increase in blatantly obvious spam emails getting past Exetel's Ironport spam filter. However there doesn't appear to be anything sneaky about the emails. Many have "casino" in their subject field. None are sent from anyone in my address book. Mostly they are online casinos, dating scams or simply just unsolicited junk mail.
I have configured my Thunderbird email client with some mail filtering rules to detect spam, but I just thought that Ironport should be doing more to stop spam getting this far.
Is there any way to increase the level of suspicion that the Ironport filter places upon incoming emails?

I am having exactly the same problem.
Since early March, I noticed a gradual increase in the amount of spam getting past the Ironport Spam Filter.
Now nothing is being caught by Ironport, and everything just comes straight through.
The only thing that seems to be still working is the stripping of attachments with viruses
I have forwarded the last 20+ emails to spam@exetel.com.au, and the spam just keeps rolling in.

So I hope Exetel refund everyone their monthly fee. It is of course the right thing to do. (FYI: Not an ironport subscriber)

I have just received two very suspicious emails with a ZIP file containing an executable file.

Is there an update on this yet? Almost a fortnight has passed since the last post and spam emails haven't noticeably decreased in number ...

We are working with Cisco on this.

Hi there, Exetel. Any updates? It's over a month since this issue was raised, and the spam is still coming in. Are you any closer to a fix? I am still diligently sending in the spam to spam@exetel.com.au but it feels like a waste of time.
Thanks.
Thanks.

It should be fixed no later than 2 weeks.

Is there an update on this, James? The spam filter seems to have broken down completely. I have no wish to join any online casino, receive JapaneseJunkmail, nor buy Viagra onlineJames wrote:It should be fixed no later than 2 weeks.

New equipment should be delivered in the next week or so, we are waiting on new license keys in the interim.
