Can't play Worms: Armageddon online reliably

Netcomm NB16WV-02 (Latest firmware)
Windows 8.1 x64

The game uses IRC for communicating with each other while waiting for an appropriate game lobby to become available and a game specific protocol for communications and game preparation in the game lobby. I am experiencing great difficulty connecting to this IRC service as well as to other players game lobbies. This started happening about 13+ days ago and has been getting worse as time goes by.

I have tried:
Power Cycling Router
Resetting computer (Warm and Cold boot)
Changing computer IP (and Router port forwarding rule)
Resetting the NIC
Verifying the Game Cache in Steam
Checking the security/permissions for the games folder as well as Steams folder
Ensuring the game has Read/Write access to it's folders (It's not installed to Program Files)
Getting angry and frustrated at/with the game
Reinstalling the game
Disabling Trend Micro Internet Security 2015
Verifying an exception exists for the game in the Windows Firewall

The problem appears to be fixed.

Could you find out what needed to be changed?

It appears some scheduled upgrades have been performed on routing paths which seemingly has resolved the issue.
