Bill shock warning - mobile not dropping call
Bill shock warning - mobile not dropping call
This has happened twice, so I hope others take note.
First my wife's phone, got a warning about over the ratio and a big overage.
Last week my Mother had the same thing happen.
Basically if you call out and do not actively 'hang up', even if the other end has hung up, the outgoing mobile call hangs.
The wife copped a four hour call and my Mother five hours.
If someone calls in to the mobile and hangs up at their end then all fine.
This has happened on iPhone 4 and Samsung S2.
Wouldn't you think that Optus could recognise that one end has hang up ?
I mean aren't there handshakes or whatever ?
Or is this a "feature" that they enjoy using to make even more profit.
Warning... make sure you hang up.
Cheers

Re: Bill shock warning - mobile not dropping call
Have you noticed in your phone display, when the other party hang up the call, do you still see the active call before you hang up the respective call?Mixer wrote:This has happened twice, so I hope others take note.

Yes I still see the active call and the counter is rolling.KavindaS wrote:

Re: Bill shock warning - mobile not dropping call
Is this happens with any call or some random calls only? Do you get the issue with incoming / outgoing both calls or some selected calls only?Mixer wrote:Yes I still see the active call and the counter is rolling.KavindaS wrote:

Re: Bill shock warning - mobile not dropping call
It happens when calling out only, to both mobile, landline and voip. I can replicate the issue by calling my Exetel VOIP number as well as another PSTN line.KavindaS wrote:Is this happens with any call or some random calls only? Re: Bill shock warning - mobile not dropping call
Could you please email residentialsupport@exetel.com.au including few examples with time frames and dialed numbers as I need to question this with Optus. Once you have send the email, paste the ticket reference number here and I will check on this.Mixer wrote:

Re: Bill shock warning - mobile not dropping call
I've noticed this also, using a "dumb" phone. Ringing to PSTN or VoIP, the caller has to press the hang up button.
