The main ways to schedule downloads are:
- For P2P downloads, torrent clients such as uTorrent and Azureus have built in schedulers. See http://www.raymond.cc/blog/archives/200 ... wnloading/ for a tutorial.
- For HTTP and FTP downloads, there are a multitude of programs that will help you schedule them. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison ... d_managers for a complete list. Some free ones that I know of are wxDownload (http://dfast.sourceforge.net/index.html), Orbit Downloader (http://www.orbitdownloader.com/), LeechGet (http://www.leechget.net/en/). Check their web pages for instructions.
- For Windows (and perhaps other programs) that perform automatic updating, they sometimes have settings where you can configure the frequency, and hopefully the exact time, that updates are performed. For example, Windows automatic updating is under Settings, Control Panel, System, Automatic Updates
