VoIP Issues
Re: VoIP Issues
Hi all,
Does anyone know the official word on the status of these problems ? Are we on the new server or the old server ?
I still cant make outbound calls -just get an engaged signal everytime.
I've also just changed codec settings to force G711 as a test, and I get :
001475: Nov 21 07:59:02.756: //-1/xxxxxxxxxxxx/SIP/Msg/ccsipDisplayMsg:

Re: VoIP Issues
try sip server settings as 58.96.1.2 instead of sip1,exetel.com.au
and reboot all devices.
kenobiajay
you could also try a reboot of all devices it doesn't hurt and may fix the issue

Re: VoIP Issues
Well, resetting didn't fix anything....
Anyway, I've added a dial plan which adds 0011612 to any local number. For the time being, that hack will have to do.

Re: VoIP Issues
I would not recommend dialing less than the 10 digits for a phone number, you will probably get away with dialing an 02 number considering the VoIP server is apparently located in Sydney.kenobiajay wrote:Calling local numbers via 0011, eg 0011 612 9876 5432 works, but 02 9876 5432 and 9876 5432 don't.

Re: VoIP Issues
Fair enough...but local numbers only dial when I use 0011 612! Anything else, and I get an engaged tone.vk3xem wrote:I would not recommend dialing less than the 10 digits for a phone number, you will probably get away with dialing an 02 number considering the VoIP server is apparently located in Sydney.kenobiajay wrote:Calling local numbers via 0011, eg 0011 612 9876 5432 works, but 02 9876 5432 and 9876 5432 don't.

Re: VoIP Issues
This is still happening. Is it being looked into by Exetel?vbap wrote:Confirmed , no caller ID from my E71, using Nokia's inbuilt SIP client. Re: VoIP Issues
Looking at the packet trace when I use my N82.
When I register, I get 401 Unauthorised.
When I try and dial 02xxxxyyyy@sip1.exetel.com.au I get 403 Forbidden.

Re: VoIP Issues
Thanks to Exetel for now enabling us to dial Internationally formated numbers!
We can now dial +614xxxxxxxx, this means that mobile VoIP users can now reply to an SMS message directly via a VoIP call rather than having to reformat the number!

Re: VoIP Issues
Does this change have anything to do with choppy Exetel VOIP to the Exetel Conference numbers?

Re: VoIP Issues
Looks like we again have problems.
Have made 3 calls today to businesses which just rang and rang with no-one answering.
The first two, the person that eventually answered the phone was quite confused and denied letting the phone ring, she advised I should not have dialled the number as it is a direct line to the accounts department! This being the Sydney white pages listing for a large IT distributor.
I had more joy on the third failure, when I asked the receptionist whether they were busy she was puzzled until I explained that no-one had answered the phone. She then said she had just tried to answer a call but the the phone rang once and then stopped, there was no-one on the other end!
She also reported a lot of echo at her end which I have not had commented on for some time.

Re: VoIP Issues
Hi sable
It might be a local issue for you. I have been making and receiving calls all day with my VOIP service without issue.
Others VOIP users might be able to add more.

Re: VoIP Issues
Possibly, but I experinced this issue and also the similar 7 ring problem after the changes were made to the sip server in late October and which many other people reported at that time especially but not exclusively those with Billion hardware.t might be a local issue for you.
Re: VoIP Issues
Okay, thanks for the extra info - I'll see if I can find out if anyone has been "fiddling".

Re: VoIP Issues
VoIP on the 7404GOX has been behaving itself for a couple of weeks now. On 2 occasions the call (VoIP to VoIP) has dropped out & gave a busy tone at both ends. Just hit the redial and continued on for another 20 mins or so without a glitch.sable wrote:Possibly, but I experinced this issue and also the similar 7 ring problem after the changes were made to the sip server in late October and which many other people reported at that time especially but not exclusively those with Billion hardware.t might be a local issue for you.
I've even got rid of the echo for the remote party!
Just tried ringing a landline (Telstra) & it cut out after 29 rings, definately able to leave messages on voice mail/answering machines
